Can someone help me with ISOFIX?

Hello, I purchased a BMW 7 series 730 d 2003 recently and forgot to check if it had isofix (I asked my husband to do it but forgot). Thing is my 2 childrens car seats are isofix and they cost around £200 each so I was wondering if possible could I fit Isofix? My husband says there are like small metal circle behind the seats with a bolt in it so Im assuming that I can attach a bracket to these two and secure them with bolts?

I'd really appreciate anyone that could help, for my kiddies safety.

Many thanks:)

Not sure about retro fitting on the BMW's I think its possible but not sure if its recommended or not. BMW tend to put a slot in the seats and cover the fixings and tend to do a better job than most when ISOFIX is fitted its not just a simple loop.

A quick google shows that some people have retrofit ISOFIX on various BMW's so it might be an idea to give the dealer a call and see what parts you might need.

Welcome to Tyresmoke by the way am sure someone else will have a better idea than me. +++

:grin:Many thanks, Ive contact BMW themselves and they are now looking for a chassis num so Ill get it and get on to them to see if it is possible. I had a look through the audi forum n someone had put pics up of the isofix bracket that they had fitted. Thought maybe mine would be as simple, obviously not!

Thanks

Hi YumMum!

There isn't a retrofit kit for the E65 7-series however get your dealer to check the following parts:

These are parts which need bolting to chassis under the rear seats.

Items: 25 & 26 41117054325 & 41117054326

Then there are other options which maybe required:

RealOEM.com * BMW E65 730d Installation tool for ISOFIX child seats

RealOEM.com * BMW E65 730d Child seat mount

The parts are only cost a few Euro's so it maybe worth taking your back seat out to see if the bolt holes for part numbers: 41117054325 & 41117054326 are there, if so then it should be safe to do the installation if you get the torque seating for the bolts from BMW.

Note, i'm not a BMW engineer and this is purely advise based on the part numbers above.
