Can you help me. Ive got an intermittent misfire on my 2001 golf v6 4motion. It loses power, misfires and start making a 'tinking' sound. By tinking i mean quite a high pitched pinging, like someones tapping something. Sounds like its from inside engine. When the tinking noise occurs the misfires happens but sometimes it misfires without the noise. Garage thought it was just misfire, fixed it, then the noise came back. They have asked about and have suggested it may be a loose valve guide, so only way to pursue problem is to remove head and investigate. Any ideas? Its a 2001 2.8 v6 4motion, done 93,000 miles on a Y plate if that helps.

While im on here i may as well ask my second question. Ive got a y reg (2001) golf 2.8 v6 4motion. When i turn tight corners at low speed there is a noise from the rear wheels. If im turning right it seems to be the rear left wheel. If i turn left it seems to be the rear right wheel. Its as though whichever wheel is outside the bend isnt turning fast enough, and therefore is being dragged along. Only happens at low speed on tight corners, almost full lock. Other than that its fine. Was suggested it may be a transfer box or differential problem. Have you had any similar problems. Any ideas?
