Hi, I was driving my 06 Passat a humid July day. After like 3 hours on the road, I felt very humid in the car... although AC was on. Then I found that there was no air coming out of the vents, although I could hear the sound of the fan. Took it to a dealer, he found nothing...charged me $50. The next day my passat died completely on a highway... got it towed to the same dealer... he said it was a fuse...after looking at my car for like 3 hours. Anyways, kept driving the Passat... and the problem of my AC dieing kept coming back...but only after I had been driving it for over 2 hours or so... I would turn the AC/fan off...for like 15 min, it would work fine....for next 10 or so minutes... and die again. My car also started to smell... every morning before going to work as I would open the door to sit, it would smell real bad... Last night as I was cleaning the car, I saw a cut in my carpet on the front passenger side... which looks like it is from factory itself as a similar cut is present on the driver side too. Through the cut I could feel the under pad of the carpet really wet... and the floor also pretty wet. All the wires running underneath were also wet. I was on a forum of Chevy...where people are having similar problems and they say it is the blocked Evaporator... that is causing the AC to die after 2-3 hours and also causing the wet carpet on the passenger side. My mechanic (not the dealer) does not believe it... please help!! Could the two be related..i.e the AC dieing after long drives and the wet floor on passenger side...
