my 2006 golf gti (200T) dsg has developed aircon fault, first it was intermittent for abot 10 minutes, and then permanently wont work. garage refilled it (just a little needed,)and checked pressor sensor and pump and diagnostic say all was ok, but still it does not work, thinks the expansion valve may be stuck. At same time the speed control is intermittently not switching on (but has been erratic for months). could there be any connection between these two faults. symptoms of aircon not working remain permanent even when cruise control is working. It's a mystery. Garage initially suggested need new Intake manifold throttle body (approx £350) and that this may fix both problems...seems to be stretching the idea..I thing it may just be a computer problem!

Hi all I have the following issue, which my delaer and VW South Africa have indicated to be "by design". Was wondering whether this indeed was fact or fiction? What is happening is that the natural airflow coming via the vents seems to be coming through at the temperature at which the aircon was set at on last use. Meaning, say I run the aircon at 29 deg, arrive at my destination switching the car off without switching the aircon off. The next time I drive the car, the air coming thru will be warm, until I switch the aircon on, adjust the temperature to cool and switch off again. What I have been told is that should you switch the ignition off before switching the aircon off, the temperature flaps remain in their last setting. Also, next time you the car these temperature flaps still remain in the same place? I need some clarification whether this is normal or a possible issue? Stephane

Hello, I am having a problem with the heating system on my A8. Basically, the cantre vents work perfectly, however, all other vents blow nothing but hot air, no matter what I request from teh system. I believe this may be cause by the heater control valves stuck open. I have checked that the fuse is fine. Can anyone describe where these valves are and how easy they are to replace. Alternatively I am open to any suggestion of how to fix this and would like to hear from anyone who has had the same problem. Thanks for your help. Stephen
