Hi Guys. I've just picked up a DVD drive sat nav to replace my CD unit. If I plug in the DVD nothing works unless I hold down the eject button constantly. If you do this then the red power light comes on and it starts to work fine. As soon as you let go of the button then the screen goes off again as does the power light on the unit. Also, unless you keep down the button for it to power up, and then let go and press the eject button again quick, the DVD won't eject, as if the unit is missing power to eject. Mine is a 2003 330D, the unit is in the boot and has the standard red and blue connectors. Old CD unit works fine. DVD drive comes from a Range Rover (but as I say, works fine if the eject button is held). Is there a different power pin on the DVD drive to the CD which is missing? Does anyone have the pin layout so I can check for missing power? Anyone any ideas? Much appreciated all. -
Hi guys, Came across this site whilst doing a bit of googling. I'm Chris from Staffordshire, been into my cars and motorsport for a number off years since I was a little kid. Anyway currently drive a BMW E46 convertible individual. Quite heavily into my photography aswell so here's a pic of my car.

hi, need some advice. my uncle has picked up a 2nd hand (obviously, he hasn't travelled back to 1999!) 318i, its the E46 type i believe.. he is wanting to upgrade the stereo on it as it has a cassette player which i think is actually broken, he didn't seem all that pleased with me when i couldn't control my laughter at what he had! anyhow, it looks a lot like the one here: http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/4077/bmw3183jpg.jpg with a digital climate control panel just underneath but in a RHD flavour of course, the actual bit with the cassette player, doesn't even look "1 DIN" sized to me, are there any guides anywhere as to how to upgrade the stereo on one of these things? also he has only got 1 key, he's been quoted X amount from his dealer. is there anywhere else (cheaper) he can go to get a spare key with all the alarm, immobiliser and key cut or is it looking like dealer or nothing? thanks.
