  1. First day of driving my first car, I was parked up with my car idling and I noticed in my mirror that my car was emitting a lot of fumes (bareing in mind it was warm out). I started to notice and strong smell of petrol, took no notice of it initially. Then my exhaust emissions warning light came on and my car began to struggle to stay on. I just turned the engine off and thought nothing of it. When I went to pull off, I noticed the car was being very sluggish and struggling to provide any power, I began to go up a steep hill and it became really apparent that something was wrong. The car hardly made it up the hill, was very jolty and the power felt like it kept coming on then cutting off. I pulled up once I made it up the hill and the warning light began to flash. The car continued to struggle to stay alive so I just turned it off and waited. I let the engine cool down, but no luck. Would really appreciate if someone could please advice what maybe wrong with my car. And the appox cost of what the repairs maybe. I only brought the car today, which has left me with little money as you can imagine. It was working brilliant until this happened. Thanks for reading Regards, Shane
  2. Can you help me. Ive got an intermittent misfire on my 2001 golf v6 4motion. It loses power, misfires and start making a 'tinking' sound. By tinking i mean quite a high pitched pinging, like someones tapping something. Sounds like its from inside engine. When the tinking noise occurs the misfires happens but sometimes it misfires without the noise. Garage thought it was just misfire, fixed it, then the noise came back. They have asked about and have suggested it may be a loose valve guide, so only way to pursue problem is to remove head and investigate. Any ideas? Its a 2001 2.8 v6 4motion, done 93,000 miles on a Y plate if that helps.
  3. My 2005 Cayenne S (4.5) has an intermittent misfire on startup. This is accompanied by blue smoke for the first 10-20 seconds, and then the misfire/smoke goes away. This only happens every 4 or 5 days. Has anyone seen this before?
  4. Hello all, I've been getting multiple misfiring on bank 1 all 4 cylinders. Disconnected the B1 lambda sensor and problem went away. Ordered a replacement oxygen sensor, but problem remained. Verified all wiring to the ECU, and finally swapped B1 and B2 lambda sensors. Problem shifted to bank 2. Here are the part numbers for the sensor: ETKA: 021 906 265 AK Bosch: 0 258 003 842 (overall length 750mm) The one remaining working one on the car is a: Bosch 0 258 003 454/455 (VAG: 077 906 265 D) Both the ETKA part number and the old Bosch number have been replaced by the new Bosch number (...842). However the old sensor with cabling is nowhere near as long as the replacement. The fact that the problem shifted points directly at the sensor itself. At the moment I'm assuming new sensor is faulty from the word go. Awaiting arrival of replacement for the replacement as it were. Has anybody experienced this before? Am I overlooking something? Many thanks, BB Cross posted from 4D2 ABZ 1996 4.2Q Oxygen sensor - AudiWorld Forums
