Tips for using the electronic handbrake

Not sure I understand where you're coming from? The handbrake holds the car still, when you want to go, just drive away as normal and ignore handbrake, it comes off on its own. My auto does this, and so did the 2.0tdi A6 loaner I had with a manual box. Apologies if I have missunderstood your question confused.gif

Fair enough... I tried that but it didn't feel like it wanted to move. Will try again now I know...

Not sure I like this trend for electronic handbrakes - not as satisfying and reassuring as pulling a mechanical lever and feeling the handbrake is applied.

The fact that the new Passat has an electronic one put me off buying it.

But IIRC the Passat has the Electric Hill Hold as standard which is a great feature. Means you don't get the problems this thread was started for 169144-ok.gif

I think the electronic handbrake is brilliant on my A6 3.0TDi. I find it extremely useful at traffic lights etc. Just leave it in drive, flip the handbrake on and just press the throttle when traffic is clear. Saves having to hold the car on the footbrake. I do a lot of mileage, most of it in cities so take a lot of stress and strain off. Really miss it on wifes Mercedes.
