Phil1978
Does anybody on here know if it is possible to enable the little green headlight lamp in the instrument cluster when the lights are switched on, either sidelight or dipped beam. Just that it doesn't light up as my previous B6 did, all that lights up is the sidelight light on the light switch (it goes from red to green). The car is a 2007 A4 Cabriolet with auto lights and Xenon headlights. Thanks in advance. . . . . .
shark_90
Does it come on if you manually switch the lights on?
Phil1978
Nope . . . . . Just the sidelight light on the light switch goes green. This happens on AUTO mode and if done manually . . . .
shark_90
Hmm, not sure about that one. If you have VAG-COM it may be worth going into the instrument cluster module and doing an output test - one of the tests is a cluster test which shows all the warning/information lights on the dash. There might not even be one
Phil1978
Thanks shark 90, does anyone know how to do one of these output tests . . . . I have genuine VAG-COM . . . . I can see where the light should come on, but not if it is able to be lit . . . So the cluster test sounds good, if anyone knows how to . . . . . Thanks in advance. Phil1978
I have checked the Ross Tech and Wiki site, but there is no info that I CAN FIND on there . . . I may have missed it though . . . .
shark_90
Go into the instrument cluster (Module 17) and once you're logged in select the "Output Tests" button. Then Start the tests
Phil1978
Thanks AGAIN shark 90. I will check that when I get home tonight, unless someone can come up with the coding if it is possible.

terrymcg
Phil, Just been out in my car, a B7 Saloon, and its the same no green light for sides or dipped! Terry
Phil1978
hmmmmmm Thanks Terry, so is this a common B7 thing??? Oh and by the way, stick with a chrome surround Terry, it looks sooo much better. I tried a RS4 black optic before I went for the RS4 chrome, and the chrome looks much better in my opinion, especially if you have the chrome window surrounds on a black car. Sorry for the digression
Phil1978
Done the output tests and no lamp for the lights lit up . . . . . .hmmmm Still not convinced I had to delve deep . . . ooh er . . . And found a thread on a german site. And on further looking on VAG-COM found where you can activate the lamp from. Yippee, it now shows in the instrument cluster. Phil1978
Seems like Audi do this with a lot of things . . . Just had to recode the comfort system, a lot of the comfort functions weren't added. Why I'll never know.

terrymcg
Daz, My coding was exactly the same as Phils, I think yours was different as you have an RS4 and will have the value entered for the smaller fuel tank and for the switch in the clutch pedal as you have to depress it for the engine start button. Thats what I reckon anyway, could be wrong!

Phil1978
DAZ . . . . Are you CRAZY . . . . Why is your seatbelt warning turned off???? Did you turn it off or was it like that from Audi. I know people dont always wear their seatbelts, and I have seen the aftermath enough times to know why they are fitted, but even so, especially in a cabriolet!!! Vertigo1
Anyone tried enabling this light on an A3 rather than an A4? Really annoys me that they've disabled the instrument light in favour of the one on the switch as, with auto lights, it's really hard to tell when the lights are on sometimes. Daz
I wear my seatbelt all the time on the public road, but it's really annoying when it start beeping at you just because I'm moving the car out of the garage.
