Something for the weekend.....

A friend was heading off to London for the weekend and asked if I wanted to borrow his new M3 for the weekend, needless to say I didn't need to think about it for too long..... grin.gif

So, off I went on Friday evening and swapped my CSL for a week old E92 M3 in Alpine White/Fox Red leather. The car has the adaptive suspension, sat nav, 19" wheels and all sorts of other extras.

Aesthetically, the car is stunning, white with the red leather is the ideal combo IMO. It's a bit of a fecker to keep clean though, flies seem to love it! grin.gif

The car is really fast, faster than I was expecting it to be. It loves to rev and only really picks up speed when you pass 5k revs. After that it wails right the way round to 8.5k revs! EEK2.GIF

The V8 sounds fantastic, this is the first V8 car that I've ever been in. I was slightly disappointed in the volume though, all that power should make more noise than it does....no disputing it's nice, but just not enough for my liking. FIREdevil.gif

I have one major criticism with the car though, and it's with the adaptive suspension. It does a great job at keeping the car level round corners etc, but when pushing really hard over bumpy back road etc, the car feels very skittish and seems to bob about all over the road. This is the same under hard braking, the brakes are fantastic but the car seems to move around a bit too much compared to the CSL. The adaptive suspension gives you a sort of false feeling that technology is doing more work than it needs to, and makes you feel like the car is doing most of the work and the feedback you get is sort of manufactured....that probably doesn't make much sense to you all, but it makes sense in my head! tongue.gif

Just back there from swapping back so I'm now back in my CSL, as much as I enjoyed the E92 I am actually happy to be back in my own car....I missed the noise, the pin point handling and the SMG!!

I was really shocked at how bad the fuel economy was, today I was averaging 9.6mpg! On a run I was getting 12mpg....that is awful and would put me right off, the M5 does better than that....perhaps it will get better when there are a few more miles on it.

Here are some more pics:

I also spent an hour driving around in this Aston Martin on Saturday, loved it! grin.gif

Er, are you sure you were actually driving?? Doesn't look like it to me. grin.gif

Growing on me pretty quick the new M3. I don't get the rear lights - think the S5 lights looke better as they are all the same size (as apposed to the M3's smaller lights on the bootlid).

Who's lambo? 169144-ok.gif
