The FIA has announced that all F1 engines, from now on, have to be contained in freezers for the duration of each Grand Prix.

The new legislation will last until 2018..

Rumour has it that the only upgrades teams will be able to provide for their engines will be upgrading to more energy-efficient freezers... confused.gif

Wait, what? You say the article says DEVELOPMENT of engines will be frozen, not the engines themselves?

I'm going to go to the FIA, show them a false Ferrari badge and say that I am appealing your decision to say I read the article wrong! They will support me, not you!! lol.gif

PS - Isn't 10 years a bit much??!

And I also - but they were planning to cease that at the end of 2008 or something (2009 would have brought massive technological changes) - now though, it's til 2018! Marvellous!

This lack of development will ensure that A1GP or something will overtake F1 as the most technologically developed sport by the time the restriction is lifted in 2018...

I've never understood this whole cost-cutting thing anyway. I've not noticed a reluctance to become involved in the massive money-go-round in recent years (BMW, Renault, Spyker, "Force India", Prodrive etc. etc.)

If you want to limit costs and level the playing field, why not just have an arrangement where every team each year has to pay a huge set amount of cash into a central account, which is then fed back out to the teams in equal chunks throughout the season. The accounts are fully audited, an FIA delegate is sent in to scrutinise every team, and if they get any money or benefits in kind from elsewhere then they get chucked out. Simple!

I'm waiting for your call Max... Or is there something else behind your "cost cutting".

It won't be A1GP; They've just signed a multi-year deal with Ferrari to use their old F1 units.

What's the point in cutting costs anyway? No one gives a stuffing toss, as long as we get to see the best cars in the world, racing each other.

Freezing the engines might have sounded like a good idea if they hadn't given a lame reason for doing so.

No, no, Ron is not Jewish, he is simply a man from a working class background, who, through sheer hard work, made something of himself. Remember, Mosley's Nazi father was an aristocrat; he hates both jews and peasants. Unless they can be of use to him, like Bernie for instance - or Ferrari. What a useless (censored word - screw you Porter) that man is.
