chasdrury
Guys I have an autodimming mirror to fit to my A4 - I have followed some instructions on navplus.us, and the wiring in my car is different to his car. Kufatec has a wiring harness for this - there are 6 pins. 1 goes to the interiot light cluster, 2 go to the external mirrors, if you have dimming ones. That leaves 3 wires. Kufatec mark them as Masse, KI15 and RF signal. Does anyone know where they all wire into? I want to get this working and then add the automatic lights and coming home function, which I have all the bits for. Thanks Chaz
TDiAvant
Feck I wired this up on my S4, but would need to look through the wiring diagrams agsin. I won't have the time to look at this tomorrow, but I should be able to get the information to you on Thursday, if no one beats me to it.
chasdrury
Thanks TDi, that's great. Did you use the Kufatec cable? Chaz
TDiAvant
I did, and from memory had no problems fitting the cable. Lee
Mook
Chas, wouldn't it be easier to buy a car with all these features on them..?
chasdrury
[ QUOTE ] Chas, wouldn't it be easier to buy a car with all these features on them..? [/ QUOTE ] probably, but where's the fun in that! Plus, I'd end up spending way way too much money on new cars. Stops me getting bored. Roll on remap and Milltek when Milltek actually make an exhaust for my car...

If you could find the diags for it, where the cables go, would be much appreciated. Thanks Chaz
Davef
Hi Chaps, Any advance on this topic? I've also got the parts and harness - just trying to find the details and then the time! Dave
chasdrury
Hi Dave Lee (TDiAvant) has very kindly sorted out the pins for this - and where they go. They are on my email, I will write it up later. Have you got the Kufatec harness? Chaz
Davef
Hi Chaz, Yes I have. I must say Lee is an incredible source of info. He has helped me in the past with retrofits - heated seats and others bits and bobs. Like you I seem to have a retrofit bug - I have just aquired the parts to retrofit the front and rear park assist along with most of the bits for bixenons and the self levelling system. Just trying to piece together all the details before dismantling my entire car. Dave
chasdrury
Don't suppose you are fitting the Auto lights and coming hom efunction too, are you? I want to get the front and rear sensors, that is on my list... Chaz
Davef
I hadn't planned to but if its feasable and not too expensive I will probably fancy giving it a go! Looks like you're not too far from me so maybe we can help each out! Cheers, Dave
chasdrury
Theoretically, you only need the auto light switch (c£65) and the range switch (c£20) - that is, if you already have the auto dim mirror. I work in Sherburn In Elmet, so really not far at all from you I guess? Chaz
shark_90
Chaz doesn't have a retrofit bug at all... he just listens to my hair-brained ideas too often. Come to think of it, I think I was a big influence on Lee too

chasdrury
Well, I have wired up the auto dim mirror to no avail - is there some coding or something somewhere to do? If there isn't I can only think that my wiring somewhere is a bit gammy!! I will wait till my Kufatec wiring arrives and try again!! Chaz
Davef
Chaz, Quick question - how easy was it to remove the old mirror? In relation to coding the auto lights function needs to be enabled via vagcom, but not sure about just the mirror. Dave
MGquattro
Hi Folks, I've been working on this also on and off. If I remember correctly there are two wires to connect to the exterior mirrors, a wire to the interior mirror, a feed from the reversion lamp, an earth and a power supply. Depending on the spec. of your car some of these wires terminate at a junction block down at the side of the passanger foot well or ultimately over at the Convenience control J393 in front of the driver. I took the easy option and found sources at the passanger footwell. This works but when I switch on the interior lamp the mirror dims which it should'nt do. I think my interior lamp circuit isn't quite correct. Here's the wires I think are used: White 1. Black/Blue -- T17 f/3 Orange A Pillar To fuse No. 31 Switched Power Black 2. Brown ----------- Earth Point Grey 3. Blue/Red --- T17 f/9 Orange A Pillar To Reversing Lamp Yellow 4. Purple/White –T17 f/7 Drivers Wing Mirror Brown 5. Purple -- T17 f/8 Passanger Wing mirror Green 6. Brown/Black — To Interior Lamp Pin 1. Hope this helps and I've remembered it correctly Mike
gtiller
This may help you guys. There was a pretty useful write up over on the navplus forum. Click this Linky Hope this helps!
chasdrury
That post is why I started this. But the wiring isn't the same in that write up as other A4's (like mine, for instance!)

chasdrury
[ QUOTE ] Sorry [/ QUOTE ] I didn't mean it in a bad way mate! The Navplus thread is great, but I think my car has different options to the original post. The guy from Nav Plus has been really helpful looking at wiring diags for my car as has TDiAvant on here, looking at the best way to get the dimming mirror working. Once I have that done, I will work on the auto lights etc!! Chaz
RPSXR
hey ChasDrury Q: why are you actually fitting the new mirror?? i've had one in a lot of my previous cars and again in this one, but i think it is rubbish!! rgds RP

When I can get round to it I'll be fitting the auto-dimming door mirrors too (I had them on a previous S4 and they really complete the "no glare from the idiot behind" package).
