Retro fit auto dimming mirror

Guys

I have an autodimming mirror to fit to my A4 - I have followed some instructions on navplus.us, and the wiring in my car is different to his car. Kufatec has a wiring harness for this - there are 6 pins. 1 goes to the interiot light cluster, 2 go to the external mirrors, if you have dimming ones. That leaves 3 wires. Kufatec mark them as Masse, KI15 and RF signal. Does anyone know where they all wire into?

I want to get this working and then add the automatic lights and coming home function, which I have all the bits for.

Thanks

Chaz

Chas, wouldn't it be easier to buy a car with all these features on them..?

tongue.gif probably, but where's the fun in that! Plus, I'd end up spending way way too much money on new cars. Stops me getting bored. Roll on remap and Milltek when Milltek actually make an exhaust for my car... the_finger.gif

Hi Chaz,

Yes I have. I must say Lee is an incredible source of info. He has helped me in the past with retrofits - heated seats and others bits and bobs. Like you I seem to have a retrofit bug - I have just aquired the parts to retrofit the front and rear park assist along with most of the bits for bixenons and the self levelling system.

Just trying to piece together all the details before dismantling my entire car.

Hi Folks,

I've been working on this also on and off. If I remember correctly there are two wires to connect to the exterior mirrors, a wire to the interior mirror, a feed from the reversion lamp, an earth and a power supply. Depending on the spec. of your car some of these wires terminate at a junction block down at the side of the passanger foot well or ultimately over at the Convenience control J393 in front of the driver. I took the easy option and found sources at the passanger footwell. This works but when I switch on the interior lamp the mirror dims which it should'nt do. I think my interior lamp circuit isn't quite correct.

Here's the wires I think are used:

White 1. Black/Blue -- T17 f/3 Orange A Pillar To fuse No. 31 Switched Power

Black 2. Brown ----------- Earth Point

Grey 3. Blue/Red --- T17 f/9 Orange A Pillar To Reversing Lamp

Yellow 4. Purple/White –T17 f/7 Drivers Wing Mirror

Brown 5. Purple -- T17 f/8 Passanger Wing mirror

Green 6. Brown/Black — To Interior Lamp Pin 1.

Hope this helps and I've remembered it correctly smashfreakB.gif

I didn't mean it in a bad way mate!

The Navplus thread is great, but I think my car has different options to the original post. The guy from Nav Plus has been really helpful looking at wiring diags for my car as has TDiAvant on here, looking at the best way to get the dimming mirror working. Once I have that done, I will work on the auto lights etc!!

I had the auto-dimming interior mirror in 2 of the 4 B6/B7's I've had - and I really wished it was in the other two, I think it's great for reducing light in your eyes from the idiot behind with headlights illuminating the moon!

When I can get round to it I'll be fitting the auto-dimming door mirrors too (I had them on a previous S4 and they really complete the "no glare from the idiot behind" package).
