6ssk
two V8 two very different cars too. which one would you have? thinking of trading in the R8 for another F430??
Dave
Really tough call.. probably the R8, as it has all the performance I need, is usable and doesn't have people giving you the Ferrari hassle that I've seen mates receive.
6ssk
you say that, but since driving the R8 on public roads it gets the same if not more attention as the Ferrari did. Im sure you get it as well. just fancy another one but only for the fact its that 'bit' quicker. Really love bits on both cars...its tricky. Andrew
F430 all the way. Clarkson said (for what his opinion is worth) that it was nigh on perfect. Can't get on with the two tone colour schemes either.
Sc00t
I thought you came from a 430 ? Personally i don't even think they compare. The fezza has got to be more of an occasion to drive, i woundnt even think twice if money was no objest.
Woppum
430 without question... miles faster, and id be amazed if it wasnt miles more fun...
6ssk
Yeah I did come from a 430 but I miss it, R8 is amazing but it’s just not 430 quick although it is an amazing car. I think a V10 in the R8 would meet my needs more;going to the Ferrari dealership wed and prob will change. thanks for your comments

Apart from the CSL its the most fun ive ever had on 4 wheels. I hold it in very high esteem in deed, and I doubt the Audi would excite me nearly as much. Maybe you should get in one again and see what you think!
Mook
What's the price difference between a (properly spec'd) R8 and a 430? And is there an option to have a 430 Scuderia instead of the R8?
6ssk
between mine and the one im looking at about 46k I would love to get the Scuderia but 1 alot more money and 2 dont want that much of a race car its total striped out still want heated seats cd etc
Decked
Surly the R8 is a better day to day car? If you're using it daily I'd stick with the R8. If it's a weekend toy it's gotta be the F430!
Mook
I think I'm with you on that, because I don't know many people who do loads of miles in Ferraris (plus the annual maintenance can be a killer apparently). But I've no idea what the annual maintenance would be on an R8. Quite a lot more than a lot of people reckon, I reckon...
Adam
but still a hell of a lot less than a 430. I would try a post on a specialist Ferrari site or PH, tell them every day car doing xk miles pa and ask what to expect in terms of running cost - then sit down
sidicks
I don't think you can compare the two: One is a genuine Supercar (as you point out it is £50k more expensive) that you couldn't (wouldn't) use it on a daily basis and would have to be really careful where you left it. It would also cost a fortune to maintain. The other is a usable sports car than is designed to be used everyday to compete with the 911. While it looks stunning, I doubt it would get as much untoward attention as the F430 might do, and will be significantly cheaper to run. I's get both, the R8 for week days and the F430 for weekends! 6ssk
well I sold my 430 before I bought the R8. You can and I did use it just as much as my R8 (thats about twice a week) The R8 gets just as much if not more attention than the Ferrari did. May be because its new I dont know. Really realy love the R8 but it needs to be quicker for me. In terms of running costs and servicing - about the same Ferrari's of late are not as expensevie to run as you may think. but the R8 is far worse on fuel its mpg is very very much heavier than the 430. I think you can compare the two. why not? apart from price. if the R8 had more power it would be near perfect for me. lots of pros and cons - going to view the F430 2morow so will see! billy2shots
What is the waiting time For a v10 R8. Sounds the best option to me if you can wait.
Woppum
When my car was in the shop I did about 800 miles in the 43* 5n 6ne week. It had softer suspension, and more comfortable seats than the CSL and IMHO would be just as easy to use everyday. Some of the quality of the equipment inside was simply laughable. The windscrreen wiper switch and the placment of the window up and downers drove me crazy. However IMHO the 430 is easilly the best car for under 200k and the new CS model is the best car for over. The only reason I would even consider the R8 would be the cost, ferrari service and parts managment and the fact it gets so much attention. Take a 430 for another day and see what you think...
