jb44
Answering the delightful contributor who suggested - sorry, stated that Max is a Nazi really got me thinking about what has been lost. Formula 1 has been sacrificed on the altar of greed by Max Mosley and Bernie Ecclestone and we did nothing to stop this whoring out, did we now? I think it must be clear to everyone who witnessed this season's long nothingness that F1 as a sport, is dead. You would like proof? Okay, when Raikonnen made up a 17 point deficit in almost no time at all, what did you think? That Kimmi and Ferrari have performed a near-miracle? Or did you perhaps wonder when exactly Max and his pint-sized dildo decreed it so? Ferrari is World Champion again and I truly don't care. Alonso and Mclaren has the Mother of all divorces, and I care not. Hamilton annihilates the last vestige of faith I have in the youth of my time, and still I do not care. I used to care; back when Senna and Prost declared war, I cared a great deal. Because they raced. Well at least Prost did, but he was and is sane. I used to spend endless time analysing these two, hoping, praying that Senna would win; and be the better racer. I don't think he was, but he was a glorious, ruthless psychopath, effortlessly straddling the divide between genius and madness. Remember Donnington? It rained; he raced; I was alive. He also bitch-slapped Eddie Irvine which, so I maintain, proves he was a better racer than Prost. At least Ayerton Senna is dead; like Byron, his light shone too brightly to carry him to old age. And now the memories remain as does his 3 world titles. For fans of Giles Villeneuve I have a question: If he was so great, why did he so rarely win? Because he is overrated that's why. But at least he had passion..... unlike his son, you know, whatsisname. Wasn't he champion once? Motor racing is now more than a century old and for most of those 100 years, the guy with the most talent, or the best car, or both, usually won. I do not know whether that still applies. For all I know, the outcome of the 2007 racing season was decided in a sponsor's boardroom. I would like to conclude by offering Bernie and Maxie my sincerest congratulations. Thanks to you I am now completely cured of Formula 1. Hell of an achievement Boys, makes me wish I was born a pasty faced, chinless Britisher. Rule Britannia not. I am done.
