Hey everyone,

Im looking at remapping my Audi A3 2.0TDI S-tronic 2006!

Just a few questions:

Whos the best?

Best value for money as well

What mpg are you getting now?

What are the improvements like 0-60 and top speed?

Any known negative effects from remapping?

I dont want to lose my warranty, had enough problems from Audi UK with my A4 Cab just because of the type of oil used in gearbox. LOL

Look forward to everyones comments!

Definitely avoid remaps if you need the warranty...although out of all the cars my dad and mum have had between them, nothing has EVER been covered by warranty even when it really should've been. (all mercs and VWs).

Hell, because they didn't fit the clamps on the coolant hose for the engine properly they still charged.

REVO sound like the more aggressive tuners, but still very knowledgeable.

GIAC and APR are more conservative. Either way, the big companies have a lot of experience with VAG cars and you should be fine with any. Most important criteria is which tuner is closest to you.

Don't forget to get some system where you can reflash when the engine ecu is changed by the dealer. And also get the ability to reflash to stock when it gets serviced. It won't reset the ECU flash counter, but better than nothing.

0-60 shouldn't be massively faster, most gains are in acceleration high up. Most remaps give you more HP at lower revs and more torque so faster motorway overtaking.

Just be careful because the s-tronic doesn't seem to like tons of torque. Most tuners will take it into account and limit the torque though.

MPG should actually improve with a remap if the mixture is leaner...but a leaner mixture is more dangerous for the engine's longevity.

It's been a long time since I looked into remapping, so anyone can feel free to rip my post to shreds.

With all respoect, on what experience is the advice based?

Ive had quite a lot of warranty work carried out in the last 12month on my Golf and very recently just had a clutch and DM Flywheel. Its had REVO Phase 1 the whole time.

VW diagnostice cannot `see` the REVO code and therefore cant detect it. I would advise though, that before you take the car for any servicing/warranty work, have your REVO (or whichever tuner you use) flash the ECU back to stock. Just be sure.

I know 3 other guys who have had REVO on their cars from almost new and have gone this route. 1 of which had to have a new turbo on his Tdi after one too many track days, and none had any claim issues.

Whether you view this is as deceiptful, morally wrong or just dont care, it is fact.

Maybe the VAG network will catch on and intervene, maybe they wont but at the minute its not an issue. IMO I would say get the remap and enjoy it, BUT make sure you have access to hardware to enable the ecu to be flashed if necessary. You can buy and additional piece of kit from REVO to do this and/or adjust your remap settings. Im pretty sure you can do the same with the Superchips Bluefin. I only live 40 mile form my REVO and they flash/reflash the ecu a and when required FOC.

Anyway, thats my experience.

Cheers

Fantastic Guys!

Just gotta decide who now!

I had a Nov 2005 2.0 TDi DSG (S-Tronic)S-Line Sportback (as a company car)REVO remapped and it was fantastic - 204bhp confirmed on Stealth Racing's Dyno. Needless to say it was super quick - not great for front tyres though.... I bought the SPS switch too so I could revert it back to the stock map for visits to the dealer for service.

The remap went on at about 5000 miles and I ran the car to 36,000 miles in about 18 months and then left the company (I switched it back before I left).

Revo HQ in Daventry were great too - a highly personal service in support of their local dealer... Recommended.
