pontyslapper
This is a thread for all those people who like me clean their cars when they have time - as opposed to those who treat it like a religion. I'm particularly liking the Tesco Jet Wash at the moment - I take a mate - he has his own 'gritty' sweeping brush thing as he calls it. I spray, he 'sweeps' - 10 minutes max and the car looks great for another day/week/month depending on the time of year! We get 'snowblow' or whatever you guys call it, mineral free water, and waxy stuff all from a big noisy machine with a jet washy nozzley thing. YEAH!!! Oh and its only a quid for 3 minutes of wet fun!

sidicks
The local Jetwash is fine for a quick spray to get rid of the worst of the salt and other cr*p which gets thrown up from the roads, particularly in the winter months. If Ponty wants to wash his steed with a gritty wet rag and some hired help its up to him. When are you free to do mine then.
steelwind101
HAHA!! Thats kinda funny, i have to say avoid gritty brushes, but the spray washes are fun even if for a quick rinse down. I have seen some that now use multicoloured foam! I think its funny how, recently people in other parts of the forum have post pics of der wunder wagon when they are dirty and clean. They saw how great the cars looks, but you can cleary see buffer haze and swirl marks galore! Dark coloured cars with blades of sunlight though them (swirls) you cant even see the panel design or shape of very well!!
bpsmith
I totally agree with your points there Geoff! Continually see "show" cars in this condition and it seems to be accepted by 90% of people out there. Would love to walk up to the "Best of Show" owner with my Brinkmann 30 secs before the trophy is being awarded and make a point! My sarcasm, above, was to stop myself from commenting on the GRITTY... drpellypo
Tesco jet washes, or certainly the ones up here, use a mega strong TFR which, as soon as it hits your cars paintwork, strips all the wax. So you have a v clean car, but with no protection.

Even if you dont choose Zymol or Swissvax to finish, it would look a hundred times better!

Will 2008 see 1 in 4 car's washed at Tescos (if it's £1 in every £4 that's spent in the UK at Tescos or something - maybe 1 in 10?). Personally, I have a banger, 11 year old Fiat that I put through the local car-wash to keep the kids happy. Saves the GTI getting swirls, so money well spent! Mind you, I had a courtesy Freelander 2 HSE that I recently took through the car-wash and accidentally lowered all 4 windows at once - got a bit wet inside. bpsmith
Put some air in the tyres today, as still free with the old machine at our local Tesco's and noticed that their new ARC wash had just been finished and was 50% off!!! ...dont worry though, was nowhere near tempted to stick the motor through there I can tell you!!!!! pontyslapper
Yep, our local Tesco has an even more special edition brush... The Gritty brush with added gloopy mud.
bpsmith
Nice! I never did understand people spending upto £30k on a new motor and then using the likes of a gritty brush to clean it? It's like buying a pukka new watch and then dragging the face across gravel at the end of the day, only costing far more!
