bazza_g
OK, so I've been discussing with my localish Nissan dealer about the GTR. The dealer in question is wholly owned by Nissan and the dealer principle told me a couple of things... 1) Nissan are not currently taking orders or deposits for the GTR. 2) Nissan have not decided which dealers will be granted the status of "GTR dealers" He went on to say that anyone who's been promised a place on a 'list' or had a deposit taken off them was being 'had over'(his words not mine). The most they will do at this point in time is keep people up to date on progress. He did warn that Nissan intend to request large deposits to prevent speculators, which is fair enough in my book and he doubts any demonstrators will be around before the March 2009 delivery! To those on here who have placed orders - has money gone down? If so, what have the dealers promised or committed to in return?
Sc00t
Well they are taking deposits it seems. Middlehurst has an import that arrive's at the end of this month.I think its more for them to test and for customers to look at in the flesh. The large deposit i think is going to be £3000 which doesnt look that large for a car like this. If they're expecting me to spend £57000 on a vehicle that i have not test driven, they can stick it , and i will buy a used GT3. Though I have been informed by Middlehurst that people with deposit's will most likely be taken to special events to sample the GT-R which is logical. Middlehurst will be one of the dealers. Woppum
I found out this last week bazza. I have not gone with Middlehurst (who I bet money will get the car). I told fleet (as its a company car) to buy from middlehurst. they said they wanted to buy from their Nissan dealer so they would get discount. I told them it was ok as long as I get in writing they will get the car. So far we have put £1k down (what middlehurst asked for too) but have had no letter of guarantee. They have verbally promised the car, and verbally promised a discount. I have gone back to fleet and told them this is not enough so am waiting to see what happens. Middlehurst so far have 50 cars on their books so if i have missed the boat because of them i will be very pissed off!
Woppum
The dealer the deposit is with is West London Nissan. As you said Bazz it is not confirmed! They think they will defo get the car as they have 6 Nissan dealers across the country. Its anyones guess i suppose!!
bullett
I've decided to wait and see what happens. I might still put a deposit down but seeing as I won't be in position to pick one up until mid-late 2009 there is not too much of a rush. If they think I'm paying £55k+ for a car I've not driven they can forget it.

CarMad
I was under the impression that Middlehursts were still going to be the big importer of the car (last time I think they were the only dealer you could use). But due to traffic issues they couldn't pick up cars from around the country to service like they used to so this time a select few dealers would be used for certain areas of the country. Don't take that as gospel but thats the impression I got. Middlehurst told me they had ordered 100 cars but at the time Nissan at ANY level hadn't committed to a delivery date. The demostrators are due for early this year though, a grey and a red one if my memory serves me correctly and they might use one as a race car. Woppum
A few guys over on BM3W have put orders down for the car with Middlehurst too, but all have said their allocation isnt yet approved by Nissan, but much expected.

balboni
Saw one in the flesh in Tokyo. It looks really cool. Menacing and purposeful - unlike anything else on the road. Just gutted couldn't get my camera in time!
