Omi
I got an ear infection on NYE, very rapid onset, seemed to go deaf and had massive pain within 30 minutes, with bleeding overnight for a few nights. Went to the local walk-in centre who told me it was bleeding because I'd used cotton buds, (I hadn't used any for about 2 weeks prior.) and that the eardrum was fine. I've had a sore throat since Xmas day and was thinking infection may have travelled up a eustachian tube into my middle ear causing the pressure, pain and bloody fluid through the canal? Anyhow, throat is now better and the ear is not painful, but I'm stone deaf in my right ear. - I think it's conductive deafness, as my ear canal feels clear and I can hear it if I rub or tap that ear. Just no actual audio. How long should I leave it before visiting the GP? Don't want to appear hypochondriac, but at the same time wouldn't like to be deaf forever! CarMad
Pardon... CAN YOU SPEAK UP.... Have you tried some ear drops, not the ones with all the fancy stuff in just the more natural oil based ones. It might be a bit blocked up and a few days usage usually sorts it. I'd try that before the trips to the docs as they might say the same.
Hopsta
dont use drops if you don't have solid wax in there, can make things worse. Get yourself back to the nurse for a checkup
lottiefox
Walk In centres are not always the best in diagnosis......I'd suggest a check up - the doc won't think you're fussing if you have lost hearing in an ear and you need to get checked out asap so they can make sure the loss isn't permanent and prescribe anything that you might need. Don't put anything in the ear until you've been checked out, if there is an infection drops etc might not help matters.
Sponge
I'd have been at my GP as soon as it started bleeding! He earns enough, he can take 5 minutes to look at my chuffin' ears.
johnny11
i used to suffer alot with ear infections years ago and it was the same, the pain would go a day or 2 after i started taking the antibollox, but the hearing loss would last for sometimes over a week, but you must get to the GP to make sure the infection has gone.
