Snoopy
If in the EU common market you pay the VAT in there country not ours. Or you can claim back the VAT from there country or buy vat free then pay the vat here but that gets complicated. I regulat buy from Germany. RedRobin
....Thanks, Snoopy . Sounds bloody complicated! As anything to do with VAT usually is!
Snoopy
Its a lot easier than buying from the states as most are now in the EU you basically pay there price and there VAT. HMRC don't sting you. Unlike from the USA were you have the price of the product then P&P added then Import tax added to that total then VAT added to that total. Nelson_R32
[ QUOTE ] There's always these.... [/ QUOTE ] No offence, but I'd rather set fire to my eye lashes that put those on my R32
RedRobin
[ QUOTE ] So what do the outer bits on the LED lights (the clear bit surrounding fog and reverse) actually do? Are they additional brake lights or sidelights? [/ QUOTE ] ....I've been out in the car this evening but haven't managed to work out or see what those surrounds do as yet! I'll hook up with a friend and see what we can learn but I'm in the recording studio all day tomorrow. One thing for sure is that those LED's communicate very strongly when you are directly behind, a few car lengths back and positioned as if you were in another car (at driving seat height) - Very cool . RedRobin
....After very close inspection etc, I am disappointed to report that the surrounds on the fog and reversing 'inner' units do not function at all. There are no LED's in them although the moulding allows for them. I think it would have been a better position for the sidelights but perhaps there is EU/UK legislation to be adhered to. If my car had been either an Ed30 or a Mk5 R32 with the darker red, I would have been able to just fit the new LED 'outers' like in the pic earlier so that the reds matched. Nevertheless I am still very happy indeed with my new LED tails.
BrakeSnake
Is sarcasm and a sense of humour now dead on this forum...?? It was a pi55 take Glad you like the LED's though RR. We need some more pics. Night time shots would be good....
Nelson_R32
Ahh OK then Wasn't aware you weren't being serious. Humor is very much still alive on TSN. As I say, if you can't laugh what can you do? (Join audi-sport.net maybe? ) I've got someone I know to ask if Valeo can supply these direct in RHD format. Unfortunately they will not be able to do this for another 18 months as VW have exclusive rights to sell them until then
cmdrfire
Errr, the inner "chrome" rings are just to match the outer rings where the LEDs are. The two inner lamps are just reverse and fog, using conventional bulbs. There is no additional functionality to the inner chrome rings bar matching the real LEDs. By having R32 inners and LED outers you lose no functionality. The connector for the inner light units is just a simply +12V/GND connection. The outer connectors have got multiple wires to speak to the electronics.
Nelson_R32
Now the problem is convincing myself the outer LED's are worth £250.00 Personally I'm going to suck it and see and if they do become standard on 2009 MY I'll be able to buy them seperately anyway. Cheers Block [/ QUOTE ] ....Hi Block, I'm getting on with them really well. The indicators are really strong and effective, even when the brake lights come on. They have a very cool phase of going through amber when you first switch them on. I'm completely used to their shinyness now and I think they match the front Xenons better. I noticed some inside condensation on the 'outers' only on Saturday morning after a long drive (to a TSN meet) but it disappeared. I remember seeing the same on my Xenons when I first had the car. Apparently, there has always been a minor degree of condensation inside car lights but we see it more now that modern fittings have thinner crystal clear glazing. That pic you posted is a good one. I don't have any more new pics yet.
