Gareth
Didn't think you'd rise to the bait Gareth. You are obviously getting a lot less bullish. Got nothing to do with being "bullish"....but everything to do with dealing in the real world/current market!!
Dave
I know a couple of people waiting on the possible V10 and tdi versions. It must have affected residuals that two more powerful variants are possibly around the corner.
Merlot
You have a wonderfully selective memory Gareth. I point out that R8's are trading at list or less, you disagree, I post a few comments over a period of time that sets out the case and then you say that its not surprising, so implicity you agree. Lets move on.........
Gareth
You have a wonderfully selective memory Gareth. I point out that R8's are trading at list or less, you disagree, I post a few comments over a period of time that sets out the case and then you say that its not surprising, so implicity you agree. Lets move on......... Andrew, It's nothing to do with a "selective memory" my friend, but it is to do with what is your point here? All cars depreciate eventually. The R8 is still (yes, even after 10 months in the market that is the case) extremely resistant to depreciation despite what you say (with which "case" are you referring to/examples to be quoted in context) and despite what the current market dynamics are in evidence. If someone wants to find an R8 for less than list it can be done with a lot of work/patience. But if they are not looking to actually buy (trade or retail) such car or take to mind the correct market context (i.e. it cannot be an import/wrong spec/high mileage) then what is the point of talking down the values of the market at large? I just don't see what benefit there is in posts like this title ("R8 - prices falling") without specific and clear examples that prove the point you are trying to put across/say..... So clearly it is time to move on maybe?!?!
Merlot
There are lots of specific examples Gareth. I read two in the Sunday Times at the w/e. Anyway, lets move on as other fast Audis' are due and worthy of discussion. As an aside, have you been told how long till the A5/S5 gets Stronic rather than the recently introduced Tiptronic? As an aside, have you been told how long till the A5/S5 gets Stronic rather than the recently introduced Tiptronic? *pendant mode on* One R8 in the Sunday Times Driving section. Page 24, '07/'07 8k miles with a list of £88,500 being sold for £84,995 as a Private sale. If the other car meant was at Huntingdon Audi for £82k then it was the UK press car with 11k miles and a terrible colour combination.... Whereas every other R8 for sale is still at (asking price of course) at list, or well in excess of list. As for the S5 and S-Tronic it should be for 2009 build cars. Merlot
Moved on. Anyway, so tip in the A5/S5 is only around for six months or so of production? I don't understand why they bothered really with Stronic on the way. I read somewhere that the S5 will get the V6 biturbo when the B8 S4 comes out so bye bye V8. [talking to self mode] Audi are past masters at this.. they release the most powerful car in it's class, only to upstage it 6 months later with something even more desirable.. anyone remember RS6.. the RS6 plus... They've lost at least one customer through this policy

Gareth
That is a pretty tempting price.. altho fuel bills would be mega! They have a huge tank but the actual mpg is pretty good as the engine is so unstressed....far better on that score than a M5 for example.

Insurance Jon
Have you seen the milage though? They have to make it look attractive compared to all the low milage ones. My white one has arrived at the dealersd today and through the ad on pistonheads (put it on to test the water) had a number of over list offers from private and one trade. Tis a very nice spec though: Ibis White Carbon Blades Exclusive Crimson Red Leather Carbon Inlays Magnetic Ride Sat Nav Plus Bang and Olufsen 6 CD GSM Prep Heated Front Seats Acoustic Parking Cruise Control
Oli
R8's are dropping over £1k a month at present(even more so if you look at glasses), so if you're getting overbook bids, I'd go for it. I'm finding anything lumpy is getting a lrge kick in the nether regions at the moment! Edited August 6, 2008 by Oli
Irnbrukid
Yes very suprised anyone is willing to offer list or over, there is a thread on PH where people are saying they are even offering discounts now, if someone was willing to offer over list i'd take there arm off. Someone was even offered a 57 plate in the mid 60's last week at the end of the day it's just an audi :roflmao:they have done well for so long it couldnt last forever... Sc00t
Why anyone would buy an R8 at list in today's climate is beyond me. Just have a look what you can buy for similar money these days...... 430, Gallardo or how about a mint 997 Turbo with all the toys. I actually think £1000 a month depreciation on an R8 seems pretty good in these conditions but i think thats just the start imo.

They are still commanding very strong money despite better availability.
