ISOFIX Child Seats on the A6 (C6)

I've got a 2008 A6 Avant - 3.0TDI quattro.

It says on the spec sheet they are fitted with ISOFIX child seat retainers.

All I can find are some black lugs that sit just behind the leather seat backs.

These don't look like ISOFIX attachments.

Anyone come accross them before? What are they and can you fit ISOFIX to them?

I had a similar issue on my S4. They VIN checked it and said it had them....but it hasn't.

When I asked Audi to pay for the retro fit (only about £160) they said no. I quoted the brochure and they said it wasn't specifically a UK brochure! Who else speaks English in Europe???? In the price list i.e. separate booklet it says optional.

I didn't get anywhere with them frown.gif

Isn't it now law that new vehicles have isofix fittings? If it doesn't have them, complain like feck and say you'll reject the car unless they fit them, free.

I've just re-read your post - are you referring to the anchorage points inbetween the seat-bench and seat-back? Or to a tether point?

They seem to be anchorage points of some sort. Black in colour, about 2.4 inches long and just behind the seat base on the two outer seats and also on the front passenger seat.

Someone I know just bought an S5 (not exactly a child seat friendly car) and that has very clear ISOFIX mounting points.

I'll ask the dealer this week.

If I remember rightly the S5 (A5) has the newer style with plastic mouldings around the Isofix points in the rear, the A6 does not have these, the isofix points are hidden in the joint between the seat base and upright, so on your car they should be concealed. The plus side is - the A6 looks more attractive because you do not have big plastic isofix points in the rear seats, on the down side the isofix tends to crumple the leather / cloth when used.

For front mounting there will be Airbag deactivation switch, this used to be optional with front Isofix option - cant imagine they would fit the switch and not the isofix points crazy.gif

Check with your dealer anyway, but it sounds as if you have them

I'm thought all UK C6 A6's have Isofix mounting points on the two outer rear seats and front passenger seat as standard. confused.gif

My current 2005 A6 has, and I use them with Britax Isofix seats. When you part the seat base and back, two metal isofix 'loop' bars should be seen. Plastic guides are supplied with the car seats which clip on to the isofix bars, parting the seat back from the base making it easier to fit and remove the seat.

  • 9 months later...

I just bought a new A6 C6 3.0TDI Quattro from a local dealer in Romania, and because the sales agent didn't pay attention to my request I got my car without the isofix bars in the rear seats. Actually when I look at the english description of the isofix mounting option for my car it mentions nothing about the rear seats, only about manual airbag disabling for the passenger seat.

Anyway, the manual of the car ( which is english also ) states clearly that the isofix mounting system can be retrofitted. It's already 2 months since I got the car and nobody from the dealers here is able to tell me if this can be retrofitted and what I need to order and so on.

I took a look underneath the rear seats and couldn't find anything obvious that could ressemble to a hole (4 in total of course ) with threads for screwing a bolt in. But maybe I wasn't paying too much attention to details and this is how I reached this forum by searching for solutions for my problem.

I'm kindly asking you to help me if you know how can I finally mount the isofix bars to my rear seats. I've looked thoroughly in this forum, but I could only find this topic related to my problem, so sorry to bring up this older topic, but I would really need some help :)

Teodor
