Eibach Springs

Hi... I've had a word with Awesome over in Manchester about fitting some Eibach Sportline springs to my GTI and have been quoted £340 all in including Re-aligning the wheels/suspension. He said it would drop the car by about 30/35mm which he said is just right and would make the BBS CH's look even better. I was wondering what you lot thought of the idea. I'm not after the slammed down look or a rail track ride, I do like the ride as it is now.... Any comments please are welcome and if anyone has any before and after pic's that would be grand......

Im also looking at putting a set of sportlines on my gti but with the standard monza 2's. I do however want a fairly decent drop so im happy with the 35-45mm drop.

Anyhow regarding your black gti on 19'' bbs and sportlines it should look pretty much the same as this....

This gti is apparently running the exact same set up as your looking at, sportlines and 19 '' bbs rc's.

Looks damn good to me.

Been on the phone with two different performance parts fitters, One local place Ricci Concept who says NO WAY must change shockers to something like FDS's and another AMD Tecnic who says that the Eibach pro kit (25mm drop) will be fine. I think I will be ringing Awesome next week sometime to discus this further.....

In the mean time your comments please.......

Cheers

I got Eibach sportlines delivered today and will be getting them fitted to the standard shocks next week. I do less than 5000 miles a year so the car will probably be gone before the shockies expire. Even if they do go it's an excuse to purchase some coilovers. I also purchased some 19" ch's today. Need to get the springs on first though, don't want it looking like a jeep.

Keep the standard GTI ones for now. May change them at a later date.

There's some good info regarding this very subject - do a search, Martin within the last 3-6 months. I was under the impression that OEM dampers don't work well with aftermarket shocks, like Eibach etc. By their very nature of being lowered, they will wear the OEM dampers out quicker. How much quicker and how one defines quicker is anyone's guess. Surely it's better to have all mods working together i.e. aftermarket shocks and dampers together and by-passing OEM and aftermarket combinations? Let us know how you get on and if you do go for the Eibach & OEM combination, do let us know how that works out for you, as I for one would be keen to hear 169144-ok.gif

....Which is exactly why I went to an expert (Ray West who prepared his own road 'n track Mk5 GTI), discussed the options, and then supplied him the advised parts to fit professionally and laser track afterwards. Springs, dampers, and ARB's all together as an effective combination. I've heard too many stories of guys primarily going for looks and not actually improving their car's handling and even getting quite serious problems.
