thanks for all your support, i was only doing 50mph at the time it started snaking, and by the look of things its only panel damage on replaceable ones so it maybe coming back to me if not i have my eye on a nice 52 plate s8 or i am tempted by a nice s6 too but who knows

If you do replace it just remember the VED implications of a post mar 2001 model... My step daughter and husbamd bought a 51 plate Range Rover 4.6HSE which will cost twice as much to tax every year than a same spec Y reg...

One thing to watch when towing (and I suspect it may have been a contributing factor to your woes) is to always load a car engine onto a trailer engine forwards. You should aim to have 10% of the total weight of trailer and load on the drawbar to maintain stability.

Many years ago I had a scary experience towing a pair of minis on a large tandem axle trailer (the tow vehicle was a fully loaded 5.2 V8 CF Bedford van). We put the cars on engine to engine in the centre... and very very nearly lost it at 50mph or so (we took up three lanes of a motorway getting it all straight again). We then took the cars off and drove them both on forwards and it towed like a dream.... right up to 85 mph or so (it wasn't in the UK).

Hopefully you can get it all sorted out without too much expense. Good luck!

Spot on advice. You don't make that mistake twice. In my case all it cost me was a new pair of trousers. blush.gif

Any pictures of the recaro interior?

http://images.a8parts.co.uk/parts/546.JPG

Heres a photo of an interior from our Ebay store - Ignore all the extra bits - this is every component you would need to fit a black recaro interior, blinds, bose etc to a car whether your car was black or not. the seats look the same regardless, but didnt have a seperate photo of them handy !

Note you need to pay attention to the seat airbag configurations as there are different airbag setups in the front seats, and in the rear depending on year and a mismatch leaves you with an Airbag warning you cant get rid of.

If you dont have the recaro sports interior, then its well worth having +++

ill be selling the interior the same style as that, the full bits for a complete colour change

its all in good condition as i took everything out a year ago including the full carpets and steam cleaned the lot, and have kept it clean ever since including gliptoning the seats every month
