frankybaloney
Hi everyone, I started my car yesterday and drove for about 2 minutes (Approx one mile) and my glow plug light started flashing. I got a little worried and stopped the car. Switched off the engine and restarted the car again and proceeded for about another 100 metres and the light came on again, followed by the ABS warning light and three beeps with an exclamation mark warning. Again, more worried, restarted the car, warning lights dissappeared and reappeared after about a minute. I also noticed that if I press slightly harder on the brakes, the ABS lights comes one, if I dont, it will not show. Apart from that, the car is functioning sweetly and has only done 75k. I have read other posts and most say it is to do with the Brake Light Switch, but thought I would get a second opinion from your guys before I proceed further. So, any ideas or experiences with such issues?
cruiser647
Have a look at the rear brake lights to see if they come on when you brake. If not, then it's the brake light switch. Seems to be common on VAG cars. My Bora had it.
shark_90
Could be allsorts and the brake light switch could certainly be the culprit.
frankybaloney
Thanks guys Had the garage guy check it out for me and says he had a similar problem with a Bora and had to change the brake light switch. He has bought some brake light switches from Audi and will replace it for me today or over the weekend. Secondly he mentioned that there is a clinking sound (like when two washers on a bolt touching when shaken) on the front driver side and passenger suspension when driving over humps and bumps on the road. Any idea with that?
frankybaloney
Changed the brake light switch but the lights are still coming on. Do I need to reset anything using the vag com after the switch has been put in? Maybe the switch was not put in correctly?
frankybaloney
Ran a vagcom scan and found that the brake light switch was not installed correctly. Does anyone have any idea on how to install a brake light switch on a 2002 Audi A6? I know the basics about where the switch can be found etc. I want a little more specific answers such as brake pedal being pressed when inserting or removing etc? Can anyone help please? Need to get this done asap.
