X3 programming options

Hi

I picked up my X3 this week and looking in the user manual there seem to be a number of facilities that "can be programmed" e.g. 3 indicator flashes instead of one on the flick.

Are all of these options dealer only or is there a way of programming them myself. I must admit this is the only thing I miss from the iDrive on the 3 series. i.e. the ability to program some options yourself, daytime lights was one of the useful ones.

Thanks

You need to get the dealer to do it. I am sure its a simple task but my dealer complained about how long it takes. I got the indicator flash programmed which is well worth it, also got it to flash indicators when both locking and unlocking the car. Got them to program autolocking when I drive off which is secure with kids in the car but it does not autounlock when the car stops so you either pull the handle twice or push the button on the dash.

I did not buy the car from my local BMW dealer but they serviced it and sorted a few warranty issues. They have charged for the programming and also for looking at warranty issues.....apparently if they search for a problem but find nothing theywill charge. They have since acknowledged there is a problem ( satnav screen ) so i am assuming the full bill will be cancelled. If you bought from a BMW dealer I would expect them to do the programing for free.
