TagnuT
Quote from Autocar "There’s one final thing to get straight. If, like me, you thought TSI meant a VW engine with both a supercharger and turbocharger, that’s all changed too. Now anything with a turbo gets the TSI badge; TFSI is no more." RedRobin
....But there is/was 2.0T FSI.
Snoopy
I noticed earlier today that the new A4 is to be fitted with a 211hp version of the 2.0T TFSI, http://www.audi.de/etc/medialib/cms4imp/audi2/product/a4.Par.0014.File.pdf If you look at page 4 you'll see that the CO2 and fuel consumption figures are astounding. I hope thats not a printing error. 154g/km for the manual and 167 for the auto prob DSG sallon 160 and 172 for the avant Sounds good to me.. Low Co2/km imo is going to become more and more important over the following years so if they can reduce it now i can get a decent car for a few more years before they start charging tens of thousands of pounds for highway robbery tax. BMW with there efficiency dynamics system imo are onto a good thing so anything VW/audi does to reduce theres too is a good thing imo. i can put up with slightly less BHP if im not giving more money to the goverment to fund more houses for themselfs. Snoopy
Robin if you find anymore on your rounds of other forums please info let me know. I have the info on the block and the training document for the dealer tecs.
RedRobin
....Will do, but my visits around various forums are irregular. Nowadays I do inhabit golfgti.co.uk quite a lot - They specialise in GTI Mk1-5 and I've met a few of the lads on there - Younger and less conservative than here about modding etc.
Metalex
....But there is/was 2.0T FSI. There still is. They've just change the name to confuse everyone.
nutkins
The S3 has just been facelifted and has a new engine (Chain instead of Belt driven / lower CO2 and better MPG) so it would make sense that the ED30 would get it too. Sounds like there are similar changes to the 200BHP version. (sorry if that is duplicate info I just skimmed through the thread)
RedRobin
....But hasn't VW totally stopped production of the Ed30 now?
nutkins
GTI Pirelli then.. As I said I know there is definitly a revised engine in the S3 (including the UK). Just guessing about the Golf but surely it wouldn't make sense for VAG to build both (old and new)?
nutkins
Actually The Official Website for Volkswagen UK : Volkswagen UK has the emmisions of the 200ps engine at 189 and the 230ps engine at 194 (manual). That is defintly lower than they were and I think proves they're getting the new engine as of now.
Cuprabob
i wouldn't rely on the VW website, it's been proven to be notoriously innaccurate on quite a few instances
RedRobin
....My V5 (or whatever it's called) says my emission (Mk5 GTI DSG) is 192 on 200 ps.

They've been 189 and 194 for a long time - way before any of these new engines came out. The new 2.0 TFSI FWD manual Audi A3 has CO2 output of 171 (it used to be 186 before the facelift). A3s are definitely using the new engine, however there is no concrete news that VW will also use the new engine in the GTI. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I've seen figures of 154 for A4 2.0 TFSI, so 189 and 194 doesn't seem very new or efficient in comparison. theshawster
Just got my new GTI this morning. Ordered in April. Engine cover says TSI Turbo but dipstick in normal position so suspect it's the older engine.
Metalex
Looked at my engine cover yesterday - says TSI on it. I guess they all do?? (2006 model). Strange. I checked my engine today and it says FSI Turbo. (Registered April 2006) I wish VW would make their mind up.

Snoopy
179 g/km in the scirroco GT 2.0 TSi too i think it uses the new engine.
RedRobin
....179 g/km compared with the current GTI engine's 192 g/km seems quite a significant reduction. I wonder if that sacrifices anything in the 'sporty' driving feel.

Gemmzl
So do new GTi's ordered have the low emissions engine now?
Mook
That would probably depend on whether it's new stock or stock that's been hanging around in the UK before you get it

RedRobin
I'll let you know when mine arrives ....I assume you that "mine" means a new Scirocco and that you're getting one. I was wondering about the difference in driving feel between the two engines in the GTI, not in different cars. But I'll still enjoy seeing your new Scirocco if it's what you are getting, Mook
