Air purifiers for hayfever

Wasn't sure whether this came under Tech or here, but figured it's not exactly an exciting gadget so here it is;

It's that time of year again for my gf to start sneezing, sniffing and generally being quite snotty due to her hayfever. She doesn't really sleep well if the weather's been bad and I'm thinking it may be a good time to invest in an air purifier in the bedroom and if it helps. Has anyone else got one, do they work? and any recommendations would be appreciated. Not sure what I can set as my budget yet, but it'll go up if I can get away with it being her birthday present! :grin:

We have an ioniser in the bedroom but nothing else, it seems to help but it could be psychological. Also if she gets it going to bed check its actually hayfever.

Reason I say is that years ago the same thing happened to me when I was a kid. Had some test and I'm allergic to bed mites and dust (many people are). My parents changed the bed I was using and hey presto it cleared up overnight.

Might be nothing to do with that as you say its just if its been bad in the day. but i'd look into it. +++
