jacroberts
I have looked at the Hayens manual and it says remove one of the air vents on the front bumper. Does anyone know how to remove these bumper air vents? I tried but couldn't find out how to get it off. Do I need to remove the whole bumper? benjie
Slide your fingers into the front of the vent and reach to the top, there are 2 clips holding it on. Pull them down and it should pop right out. To be fair though, if it were me I would just remove the bumper for better access to the horns - it's not hard and once you've done it a few times it's quite quick - I can do it in about 5-10 min. Also, whilst you're there, reposition the horns so that they face backwards - if you go through any big puddles and water goes in one of the horns it'll stop working. jacroberts
I'm going to remove the bumper. Do I need to jack the car up and remove the front wheels to do this?
jacroberts
For removing the bumper I just found this on youtube:
benjie
No, just turn the wheels and do the top 4 T25's on each wheel arch. Get the grille off - be as rough as you like with the plastic clip, I am and it's still there. T30(?) in the bumper vents, 5x T30 behind the grille. From the wheel arch, give it a good smack forward and it should slide off the runners. Mind the temp sensor near the horn on the passenger side. Think that's it. benjie
Damn, missed the you tube link!
jacroberts
When you say T30 and T25. Is that Torx nuts you mean?
benjie
Yeah, though I took my bumper off today and on her kit I used T27 and T30 bits, so I think it depends on the brand off tool you're using! But yes, I meant TOrx bits. That you tube doesn't take the grille off, but I would as mine doesn't stay there without scraping all over the place.
