gizze
Well I have decided that I am going to keep the 320d touring, I have done 560 miles in it this week and still don't need to fill up for 40 miles, it has performed admirably, pushing much bigger cars out the way now it is tuned, it has been extremly comfy, has a great sound system and I still adore the look of it. The only thing I wished it had was iDrive. I really like the iDrive system, getting your albums up on screen, and your contacts etc. plus it makes the cabin feel more modern. This arrived this morning...... Can you guess what it is yet????

max_b
A whole brand new dashboard with i-drive screen ? was just about to say that, knowing your 'car skills' you'd probably end up replacing the dash with the one you're after if you say your keeping the car

gizze
Yeah it is the dashboard with the double scoop for iDrive cars. Going to retrofit the business nav for now and put the new hi-res nav unit in when one comes up at a breakers or on ebay. Funny thing is whilst making up a harness for the rerofit (only 4 wires need attaching to the radio harness by the way) I realised that this could be fitted to any car with can bus, so you could retrofit it in say an E39, E46, even an E36. How cool would that be, and E36 with the pop up screen from a 1 series!!??

Ah that makes sense - the new nav from the LCI looks awesome. I'd love to get that in mine in a year or so... Don't think I'd attempt it myself though. Good luck with the project.
