Riz
Going to be going this weekend to look at a Seat Arosa 1.4TDi this weekend. Is there anything I should look out for and how comes there arent many about on the secondhand market? Cheers Riz
Rustynuts
There ain't many about on the second hand market because they're bloody great little cars! They'll surprise a lot of other stuff on the road with about 75bhp/143 lb/ft if standard, and can be put up to 110bhp/lots more lb/ft with a remap. If you take a look for a VW Lupo you'll find the same car but a little more expensive maybe. but again not many about.
Riz
I was also thinking the same thing.... apparently the VAG 1.4TDi engines are good for eco etc. I think ive found a real steal....... Ive also found some reviews that indicate that the Seat is actually a better ride than the sister car Lupo :D Only downside on my imminent buy is that its a X plate registration which puts it on the fixed car tax band of £120pa and not £35 if it was based on co2 Im getting a:- 2001 X 34,300miles FSH with cambelt change and new tyres 12 month MOT and Road TAX A good one owner example, the owner sadly passed away, was a old guy Anybody guess how much im getting it for? Im really excited tbh.....65mpg woop woop! £27pm insurance too! Riz
Rustynuts
That's really freaky. I went to one of my older customers yesterday, and he was very old and frail last year when I went. I remember thinking that he'd not be there this year, but he is. And he has an X reg 1.4 Arosa TDi sitting on his drive aswell. I'd take a guess that you'll be getting it for about £1500 given the circumstances, but I'd be looking to buy one similar for about £2300. Riz
£1500 nope.. infact it was more than your second figure I looked at Lupo`s and Arosa`s and there arent many good but cheap examples about...... still I think its worth what im paying..... Cant wait.... Riz
Biscuits
Had a Polo with the same engine a few years ago... the fact it's a 3 cylinder means it's got a quite nice growl to it when floored. Tick over is really quite lumpy, but once on the move like others have said, they pull surprisingly well. Let us know how you get on Riz
Riz
Woohooo got it....... pretty good condition too..... needs abit of tlc on a door strip or two due to bubbling. It goes pretty well.... was suprised actually.... everything was in order too.... all the paper work, service book etc... and it had its full service done including cambelt and water bottle etc. New tyres etc.... It was really clean..... and i mean really really clean.... the paint was gleaming red. Now the bad news.... got home and found that the rubber hose that covers the rear suspension arm had split.... showing the metal rod for the suspension arm. And the remote central locking wont work..... Apart from those things its spot on. He gave a 3 month / 3000 miles warranty on all major parts too. Will post pictures asap.
