All Gmbh exclusive kit, you wont find it any normal Audi brochure. The picnic tables fold out electrically, and the controls over the center transmission tunnel are for the screens in the headrests. The fax and phone will use a second gsm aerial at the rear, so it will have two, one on each wing.... All standard kit on the armoured model btw.. :-) The seat style are the comfort seats, which were standard on th UK long wheel base and they really are comfy, but these ones here will be electrically adjustable on backwards/forwards for the seat base and rear squab... These front seats with picnic tables were available from a german breaker last year... heartbreaking, but someone has taken one of these beauties apart.... las247
Aaaaarrrrghhhh! That is something else for my list! damn this car is soooo expensive to get how I want it. If only I had'nt needed a gearbox rebuild
IT_S8
shouldnt that read 'wheelbashe'? thank goodness I didn't buy one of those, have enough problems fitting the standard size car into the garage:rolleyes: The Long wheel base is probably the best buy at the moment. They typically have very high specs (including glass sunroof as standard, electric rear seats, blinds, comfort seats and the button in the back to move the passenger seat forward for more comfort, oh and the ability to change the volume/station on the stereo in the front from the rear armrest), they are all 40V 4.2 quattro and facelift. They have almost always been limos, so very well looked after and serviced well, but they are 'last years model' so nobody wants them for official work any more so they are worth nothing in the chauffeur trade.... As a private car, its all the benefits of the normal car + more space in the back which is truely awesome when you've tried it.... But noone knows this, so they change hands for peanuts, when really they are probably some of the best D2's out there... or rather, D8's as they actually have a different chassis designation.... Oh, and if thats not enough, the fuel tank is a whole 2 litres bigger, so you can get an extra 10 miles between fuel stops
zip
Has anyone ever turned an A8L into an S8L...? Is it possible? Would be my ideal car. The standard wheelbase is not quite big enough with my 6'5" frame and a three year old kicking the back of my seat. Arghh! Zip

The standard wheelbase is not quite big enough with my 6'5" frame and a three year old kicking the back of my seat. Arghh!Zip Depends what you're looking for exactly.... You can fit sports seats, wheels and lower the suspension easily enough which gives you a 'sport' version of the LWB. Changing the clocks, door sill trims, gearbox final drive ratios and engine might be a bit much for an afternoon, but nothing is impossible if you're determined enough, they are both facelift cars with 99% identical fitting parts, and all the stretched bits aren't S8 specific, apart from the rear sill trims with the S8 logo on them.... It would be an interesting project, but the resultant car I imagine would be worth somewhere between not a lot and nowt, but it would definitely be original! Sven
Hmm, if an interior lik that were on sale NOW I'd be very interested. (Need to replace stuff anyway after the Sonax disaster). No need for the (cool) table, but the rear seats, headrests + screens and controls... hmm. Nice. Right colour and all too...

Architex mA8tey
I have never seen a LWB d2. You ever had one in to break it s8 ? This was a LWB D2 facelift that I looked at before getting my current A8 - it was on an X plate with 147000 miles of which 70k had been done on a 3 year old LPG conversion by a chauffeur, I guess the higher mileage than mine plus the increased parking space needed put me off a bit but it was quite a nice car, was about £4,250 to buy from memory from a dealer - I preferred the sports spec and alcantara/leather interior in mine in the end
