mb
Does anyone know which is No 1 Cylinder please ? I think its the left hand one when I face the engine (ie drivers side cylinder) but anyone who knows for sure please let me know as would like to replace the correct coil-pack ! Mook
Open the bonnet and as you look at the engine, cylinder 1 is the one on the left hand side
mb
Thanks ! Now if I could only get a new coil-pack (you'd have thought dealers would carry them given the number of failures although I notice these are only Rev B so maybe they are getting better as the ones for the other Golf were on E...) Mook
Get 2 spare while you're at it BTW, it's a general (but not absolute!) rule for numbering of cylinders - no 1 starts the furthest from the flywheel.
mb
Thanks, I ordered 2 so will have one for spare - having gone through 4 in quick succession on the other Golf a few months back. Thanks also for the cylinder # tip, that makes sense as the number often seems to start furthest from the cam chain/belt, didn't know it was a general "rule" though.
