ClimberSP
THat's the question, thank you
BLOCK
aye should be ok, as long as you do all four. but your speedo will be slightly out.
gammaray27
WHA? How would a wider tyre affect speedo accuracy? I cant see how it would.
R32North
Cos the correct tyre size is 225/40/18, so a 235 will be a tad wider and squeezed into a 8" wide alloy it will be a tad taller and so speedo will be affected..... but not by very much Approximate calculation result in a 1.26% or 8mm overall diameter (4mm extra height). This is within the recommended 2.5% change allowed. How much this will affect the speedo I've no idea! Hope this doesn't come across too techno-geeky!! shao_khan
because the wider tyre would have a different rolling radius. i THINK the with 225x40 18 the 40 is an aspect ratio which is 40% of the 225 part, so the total diameter of the wheel would be x giving a rolling radius measure ment of x(mathmaticy bit) soif you go to 235x40 then the 40% is of a different figure so the total diameter would be y and the rolling measurement y(mathmaticy bit). THat make any sence?
Gti_Fly
If you want to fit 235 tyres, then you need to get them in 235/35 Or you'll mess up the rolling circumferance, and hence gearing and speedo reading.
R32North
Check this out.... select size of current wheel and of proposed and see if they're the same. http://www.tyresave.co.uk/tyresize.html 235/35/18 = 15mm less diameter or 7.5mm less height from rim to top of tread compared to 225/40/18. I'd stick with 40 profiles.
R32North
Less diameter = less rolling circumfrance. Therefore, smaller wheels = quicker acceleration. Also, you'd actually be going slower than the speedo was reading as you covering less ground compared to the calibration of speedo and gearbox in relation to wheels/tyres. Sven
Difference is 1.3% (too slow), i.e. when your speedo indicates 60 mph you're doing 60.8 mph. Also be aware your navi (if present) could be affected... Calculator (A better one IMO).
ClimberSP
I'm asking the question because There is somebody that don't want 4 Pirelli PZeros Rosso that they have only 200 kms... so I could fit them in order to make some circuit runings... without money
shao_khan
go for it then - just fit all 4 at a time.
TOK
well you cant really beat that deal.. I had those on my R32 before Iwent for the 19s. very good grip tyre but also very soft rubber... Mine had to be replaced within 6 months That said I dont think my daily ritual of doughnutting outside the office car park helped matters
ClimberSP
So, you think it could be a good deal?? I'm afraid about the less performance and... security??? that may caused. Can I have some problems in terms of legality?? Anyway, I think I'm going to take them, because the Audi S4 has no problem to admit them

shao_khan
DOnt you have to have some kind of approval to deviate from the manufacturers original specs in Spain? I thought you had some strange laws there regarding this?
ClimberSP
Yes, right. That's the problem and that's why they're going to go to the S4, not to the R32. Our laws don't allow to make lots of changes in our cars and that's why we have no culture about hard preparations in our cars, the 2nd hand market it's zero if you have made an upgrade in your car, etc, etc... If you want to change something importanthere, you need lots of papers and lot of money , that's
