Mook
I'm trying to figure out which of these two I prefer, given I only had one 5 GT Turbo (in pearl white - oh yes) and six Mk2 GTIs. What's your favourite 80s car? Edited October 7, 2008 by Mook
Torino101
Ok so technically a 70's design, but sold through the eighties :notworthy: Possibly still my favourite car of all time:
Andrew
Torino and I share a common AM passion but my favourite car of all time was made in the 1990s - the Vantage. However, from the 80s it has to be the F40 all the way, with the 80s Vantage Torino posted second. Edited October 7, 2008 by Andrew

garcon magnifique
Well this may surprise some of you who probably think I've always hated Audis, but for me the one car I remember anticipating the most and wanting the most was this: Slightly more down to earth, my mate's Dad had one of these in white... absolutely cracking car: And finally, a proper northern gangster's smoker:

Soapsuds
Huge fan of Mk2 Golf GTi's (and ex-owner). But for me, 2 stand out - firstly, very biased as an ex-owner (mine was Red), but a Mitsubishi Starion 2.0 Turbo EX (Widebody) - not the 2.6 yank-engined one.... ......and the AE86 Corolla (RWD) - unfortunately, i didnt buy one
theduisbergkid
An excellent topic Mook... Some good choices from other TSNers, Ferrari 412i, Opel Manta and of course the obligatory MK2 Gti. Always had a soft spot for the Starion too, fond memories of Jons red on on Scumball '06. I've always loved these, looked at loads over the years, simply never been able to find one that isn't rotten though. MK1 MR2 : RX7, both mk1 and mk2 - Renault Alpine - But this is the one for me, an 80s classic ('scuse crap pic), Porsche 944 Turbo.
tom_hargreaves
Good thread The F40 also gets a thumbs up from me. So does the 308 GTS and 288 GTO Can I not get away with the 205 GTI? Think this was 1990 wasn't it? Or did they creep around at the end of '89?
scooby_simon
Alpine But it has to be the RS200

330dcoupe
As I was only a little nipper in the Eighties - I can only go by what my brothers used to own and what I saw on the TV. So here's some of my faves. Edited October 7, 2008 by 330dcoupe

You could get one around 85 I think - was that C reg? The 1.9 GTI was a bit later on, but it's definitely an 80s classic
theduisbergkid
330D, some good stuff there ! Astra GTE 16V with digital dash ! I was conviced it was the quickest car in the world when a mate had one, burgundy, ace ! With the benefit of hindsight, it was simply crap though ! Porker 959 nice too. I think these just about qualify as an 80's car - Merc SL. Another one for the dream garage... This is the Daddy though :

Dustoir
I guess my favourite 80s car was the same as Garcon: but I guess my favourite pin up car had to be this. I just loved those 80s looks.

Paul
As someone without a driving licence , and not even a teenager! in the 80's I wanted a Bright Red RS Turbo having seen a a gleaming brand spanking new one in the Ford Showroom, when my parents were buying a car.
