davyk31
Been looking around for a 2006 X5 for a while now and being picky about spec. Would prefer the black leather interior but several have light beige or grey. I think I do not mind the look of the light beige as it can look quite classy but maybe thats just my opinion. Also is it mega hard to keep clean. We have 2 kids but they are young enough to not yet be at the age of clambering around the car. Is this colour bad for resale or whats the opinions. My dealer is looking out for a car for me and he kinda seemed to automatically assume I wouldn't want the beige interior, made me wonder then if its a no-no. Ticking all the boxes of car colour, miles, spec, leather interior colour etc is proving hard therefore I may need to compromise somewhere. Have seen one car on the AUC website in Sytner Coventy that might fit the bill, anyone pass there who could take a quick look around it for me. I am in Northern Ireland therefore a bit far to go if its not in great condition and i am quite particular about my cars.
gizze
I don't mind the beige when it's on a dark car like blue or black, lightens up the cabin and suits the X5 imho. I always find beige easier to keep looking good than black. As soon as you see a mark you wipe it off, on black it gets ingrained and starts to make the leather look hard and shiney. davyk31
Thanks for the reply. I agree that I think it looks good with Lemans Blue and does look quite luxurious I think on the inside as a passer by looks in as its very obviously leather. I would be very keen on cleaning the car therefore it may not be an issue. I assume the carpets are also light beige.......... that might be difficult to keep looking good, obviously mats will cover the most of it but there will still be exposed bit. Might just need to teach everyone to keep their feet on the mats and sit on their hands!!!
gizze
Black carpets are a right pain for showing all the dirt and dust, I have biege in the Merc and it seems alot easier, and that is the car I use to take the dog over the fields in so I get in with my muddy boots one. SINGH
I think the beige looks the best, if I was ordering a new BMW I would deffently have this colour, even when the cars parked up and I walk towards it from a distance it looks really good. Heres a few pictures I took one night!
davyk31
I've read about jeans leaving marks on light coloured leather,,,,,,,, is this a problem to be concerned about?
SINGH
I'm not saying its not true, but I wear jeans alot and have not had this problem in this car or my A8 which also has light coloured leather.
max_b
I had cream leathers in my black cab, and had no problems maintaining the leather. BMW leather is fairly hard wearing and I found using a damp chamois over the leather always bought it up a treat. My cream carpets were protected by heavy duty rubber mats so you dont really find the carpets getting dirty, unless you are trying to dirty them. Re the jeans thing, I've never had this problem with BMW leather. In my old 306 cab that had cream 'leather' this used to happen sometimes but only because I think the material was some sort of leather type material rather than leather I see if I can try and find some pics
gizze
Even on the Lemon I never had a problem with jeans and that is all I ever wear. Where as they did leave a mark on the A6 with the vanilla leather, but it sort of cleaned off alright. Does look nice though and makes a change from Black all the time... Golfer
I have had the "Oyster" leather in my last two BMW's and had NO problems at all.
Biscuits
I've read about jeans leaving marks on light coloured leather,,,,,,,, is this a problem to be concerned about? I have the Red Fox Novilo Leather in the M3 and the drivers seat has a faint blue tinge to it, obviously from wearing dark blue jeans. Maybe the standard leather is tougher and so less likely to absorb dye..? Anyone know a good cleanser ?
