I have ran AVG and more recently the free Avast, until the trial expired.

I have now switched back to Norton 2009, as reports would appear they have responded to the fact the previous versions were a resource hog.

I couldnt really argue at the price through ebay.

£14.99+ p&p for a 3pc licence, posted on a 2GB usb stick.

It sorted out the desktop and the laptop with a licence to spare.

I havent had it long enough to find any issues tbh.

Compared to previous versions, It now auto updates itself every 4 hours, and also streams "pulse" updates which are smaller and lighter every few minutes. Neither with any noticable drop in performance or bandwidth or need to spend any time thinking about updates.

From what it reports on its built in useage mointor, it uses next to no resource, and is programmed to look for idle points to do its thing.

Yep, use the paid for version, the free version is not too bad - you lose web shield (if you use FF this is duplicated by add-ons), email shield (use NOD for this) and some keylogger stuff (try KeyScrambler). Advance firewall, I don't use as, for me, OA is all about simplicity.

A hint to all out there :

Install the free version, on setup it offers you the full version for $14.95 (a tenner) compared to the $39.95 normal price.

Another cheap deal running for the next 5 days is A-squared anti-malware. Cos its their 5 year anniversary they are offering their full package for $5 (£3.54!!!) instead of $39.95. AV + AS + behaviour blocker (The star of the show - called Mamatu if bought separately for $30) and more. Great product, bargain price. Just ordered mine.

a-squared 5 year anniversary! Order a-squared Anti-Malware Online - Homeuser and Business Users
