braywick
Hi Gents, Well I walked out to my car this morning to be greeted by a big dent, scratch and hole in the bonnet. I'm taking the car into VW for a quote tomorrow to see how much they might try and sting me for, but if anyone has any advice I would really appreciate it. Pics attached Cheers, Braywick
Drinks
Ouch, gutted for you. Any idea what caused it?
braywick
Nope none at all, I can't work out what it could have been to cause a hole and dent...
Andy_Bangle
What a fecker! Looks to me like a truck has reversed into it, you didn't have the bin men around or a delivery today by any chance?
braywick
You may be on to something there, the bin men were around yesterday (I didn't drive the car yesterday!) and we are always getting delivery vans in the road..
Mook
Sorry to see that damage Don't just take it to your VW dealer. Ask around your mates etc for bodyshops, because you'll get cheaper rates. The colour and finish will be exactly the same if they're a decent company. Despite what people say, all the mixed paint comes from one of a very small handful of companies.
TheEdge
Thats terrible mate I really feel for you, same thing happened to my back bumper day before my birtday some clown had scuffed and cracked the side of my bumper cost £160 cash in hand to get fixed, just beware according to the bodyshop i took it to they told me there are 4 shades of Deep blue pearlescent!! I remeber getting a new door mirror fixed and the paint came out lighter than the rest of the car !!!they should be able to match the paint let us know how you get on that should be sorted out in less than 3 days to get fixed. bazza_g
Thanks for all your advice so far guys, can anyone recommend a good bodyshop in the Maidenhead/Reading area? Sorry to see the mess they've made, people who would do that and drive off without saying anything drive me up the wall. I'd reccomend BodyTechnics in Slough, still pretty close to you I think - they are a Porsche Approved bodyshop and did a great job when my Boxster got dinked Bodytechnics Limited Approved Body Repair Centre 381 Sykes Road Trading Estate Slough Berkshire SL1 4SP Tel: 01753 505900
JonC
Gutted for you. That would wreck my month! Damage like this has been reported on here many times and unfortunately it won't be the last. Hope you get it sorted and quickly.

Henry52
I'm amazed that damage like that could happen and your alarm didn't attract someones attention. Hope you have protected NCB and you get an invisible repair.
S3Bangs
I'm pretty certain you're going to need a new bonnet for that and I'd have to agree with it being reversed into. Twatting idiots, not having the decency to admit it. Sorry to hear mate.. I'd be well peed off if it were me that happened to:(
Dave
I'm pretty certain you're going to need a new bonnet for that Yes, I think that's beyond repair. Easier just to fit a new one.

_Tone_
Do you know your neighbours - send a letter to the leeching bastads at the council office saying they damaged it (one of your neighbours could play witness) and that you want them to cough up! Probably robbing you of a few quid for the benefit of pest control! Feckers - hope you get it sorted without too much fuss! Tone.
braywick
Thanks again for the advice given so far, just to update you all I have been told that it is cheaper to replace the whole bonnet which will set me back £700. I've asked around the neighbours but nobody saw anything (suprise, suprise!), and having checked with my insurance company it seems it will be a lot cheaper in the long run to fork out the money myself (I don't have no claims protection). Anyway thanks again everyone.

Decked
OMG! Hope it doesn't cost you too much..... Looks like it will though. How about a carbon OSIR bonnet? wouldn't even need spraying!

Tarmac_Terrorist
Sorry to hear your bad luck. Almost looks as if a tail lift has lowered on to it or a swinging skip being lifted / lowered caught it. These guys also have a very good reputation and attract some nice metal to repair.....Specialised Paintwork - Contact Us Good luck

Anyway thanks again everyone. Remember that neven if you had NCB, your premium would definately have increased anyway. Protected NCB does exactly that, it protects the years earned. To protect the premium, you need to select the option of guaranteeing your policy.
