Mook
It just serves to turn the whole world of football and its associated costs into a farce, so the simple answer is no.
Torino101
Nearly £3,000 an hour, even whilst your sleeping...... Nice work if you can get it.
garcon magnifique
I don't wish any ill on Kaka himself - he does play for my favourite national team after all - but wouldn't it be funny if he got a long term injury in his first game? cruiser647
He might not be suited to the Premier League anyway! Look at theo ther expensive flops....... Juan Veron Forlan Charlie Nicholas (going back some now) Shevchenko - debatable and his coke sniffing (alledgedly) Chelsea team mate Adrian Muto It is an expensive gamble! billy2shots
Dont care as long as we get him. Being serious though Kaka is a great player and a good man, he does not want to come but it looks like for the money Milan want to sell him. If it was only down to him then he would remain at Milan, and its going to be interesting when he plays this weekend against Fiorentina how the fans react. If he feels their love then he will refuse the move. Seems obvious but maybe the fans would fancy over £100 mil to spend on an ageing team. They could get 5 world class players. This deal will not make City the biggest team in the world, but it could make Milan. Dont care one bit though if some bloke with a black pond in his back garden wants to waste stupid amounts of cash on my City then crack on. lesK
It's a really good idea, spend £100 million on a player and we'll make the premier league into 5 teams!! Thing is where will all the other clubs go? Yep it's such a good idea lets destroy the greatest football league in the world.
Chelsea Mick
NO! Of course he's not worth that money. It has become ridiculous now that we can even talk about this sort of money for someone who is playing a game. Not that it wasn't stupid before now. I mean 20 - 30+ million for a footballer And earning (yeah right!) more in a week that most life saving doctors earn in 5 years! Where is it all going to stop? If he doesn't want to move clubs, then is his heart going to be in it? Will he perform to his best week in, week out? Yes he will play, and he is talented, but will he be just going through the motions? Is he 3 times a better player than Rooney (and other 30mill + players) for example? Has football become a pi**ing ground now where you have bragging rights for the most expensive player in the world? Fecking mental
D1MAC
He won't actually get the oft quoted £500k per week - it is the norm to negotiate salaries in Europe based on a post tax figure and the 1/2 mil is the pre-tax number I believe. Mind you, still don't think he's worth either the transfer fee or the salary. While he's undoubtably a damn good player, he ain't as good as the previous record holder, plus he doesn't make sense from a financial perspective like a certain Mr Beckham. Still, if you are faced with p*ssing away £200m on Kaka (with a bit of entertainment) or doing the same on the UK/US economy (with even less of a chance of getting any money back and no entertainment value whatsoever), what would you choose? The £600k a week figure might not all be going to him (after tax) but its still the figure Man City will be paying him. So the question is still the same, is he worth City spending £600k a week on? No. At the same time i dont agree with the money ploughed into F1 for cars to go round and round or some Yank to pay crickiters millions of pounds for one game but hay thats the society we live in today. There is a meeting today with the Milan big wigs and Kaka, my understanding is they want Kaka to go but want it to be him that makes that choice so they can spin it to their fans. "It was Kakas choice". If they push to hard though i think he will end up staying. City do have 3 things in their favour. 1, The great Manc weather 2, Their fantastic league position, and 3, The chance to play alongside world class players like Michael Ball. In fact im gonna lay it on the line right now. He will Not go.
garcon magnifique
All this talk of five and six hundred a week ... do you people honestly believe the f*cking nonsense printed in the tabloids? (And yes, I'm well aware tha BBC Five Live Sport seems to these days... ) Oh, and isn't it ironic that a Chelsea fan says all this money will ruin football... Personally that's one rumour I am willing to believe - that Abramovich might be looking to sell. I can't see him enjoying the fact he's now only the third richest man in English football. And nothing against Chelsea fans (we all have our crosses to bear ) but I can't wait for him to sell up and for Chelsea to return to the mediocrity in which they belong. D1MAC
errrrr.... yes, when have you ever applied for a job and the salary they are offering is displayed as after tax??? I wish! Never actually but I thought people might have enough common to work out that I was referring to footballers and not ordinary Joes (and you will find that it is the norm at the top end of the European market - if a player wants £50k a week that is £50k per week tax free and not £50k gross). I don't know whether or not the £500k figure is net or gross but I would suspect gross TBH and I have a feeling I've read as much somwhere but can't remember where. cruiser647
It's all going Pete Tong for City! No Kaka and no Robinho now! Maybe he got upset about the lack of Kaka or Kaka's proposed (after tax) wages figure!

billy2shots
As a city fan i am not too upset. One man wouldn't have made our team into a top 4 side. Of course i would have liked him but 6 or 7 £15mil players will be better for the club. Unless that is they are up to the Craig Bellamy standard, what the hell are you doing paying £14mil for him. Mark hughs said he will not be held to ransom, Bridge for £9 or £12mil (depending on your sauce) and 14 for Craig is just taking the pi55. Now here is a list of good players that you could get. Not mega stars but top players that city should be aiming at. Joe Cole Robbie Keane Jermain Jenas Shay Given Carlos Tevez Arda Turan (Turkish youngster, he will be big in a couple of years). Any one fancy a £10 bet that Roque Santa Cruise will now be coming, i recon Hughs is going to be angry and tell the board to pull out all the stops. garcon magnifique
Joe Cole - are you serious? Robbie Keane - no chance, unless/until Rafa leaves. Jermaine Jenas - viable, but he's not exactly Kaka is he? (capital K) Shay Given - for a King's (sorry, Sheikh's) ransom maybe. Carlos Tevez -

Joe Cole- Not happy at never finishing a game, and big Phil is not a grate fan Robbie Keane- If City stumped up 3/4 of his purchase price then Rafa would snap their hand off, he prefers Ngog to Robbie now. JJ- is up for grabs Shay- Is still on the transfer list at his own request Tevez- United will not buy him and Carlos is motivated by money. Thats why he Left Boca for Corinthians because that was the mega money club in South America.
garcon magnifique
Garry Cook (City "executive chairman") has proved what a f*cking w*nker he is today. "Milan bottled it." What a load of f*cking nonsense. I did have some sympathy for City, but that's gone now. I reckon there's a good chance they'll have to come to Boundary Park in the league next year. The main decision for our boys will be who takes the red card for breaking Bellamy's legs.

Thats why he Left Boca for Corinthians because that was the mega money club in South America. Blast from the past. I was watching Atletico Madrid play the other night and thinking what a good little player Arda Turan is. I had been watching him for years in Turkey when he was a wee nipper and thought I remembered writing something about him on here. A quick search and this popped up. So Joe Cole was at his best and didn't move to City. Few dodged a bullet there. Robbie Keane did leave Liverpool and in Super quick time, but again City didn't buy him. Jenas like Cole was no great miss. Shay Given did join and so did Tevez and Santa Cruz. Oh, and missing out on Kaka was the best thing ever. Arda Turan though moved a couple of years later to Atletico and has turned into a super little player, helping them win the League against the mighty Barca and Real and guiding them to a champions league final. This got me thinking that it might be nice to start a new thread on future talent. Young guys in the youth teams that many people wouldn't have heard about or a young gem in a far and distant land that gets little press. 6 years later someone can bump the thread and see how wrong we all were. Will see what the reaction is like here first. Edited January 27, 2015 by billy2shots
garcon magnifique
Interesting thought. Although I'm not sure I watch enough football any more to volunteer any stars of the future.
billy2shots
It is a bit specific I must admit. I am watching the big leagues less and less now and enjoy the lesser known stuff. Brazil, Holland and Italy have taken over from Spain, Germany and France in my viewing habits.
NewNiceMrMe
I don't know a collosal amount about the youth teams of clubs outside of United, or at least not enough to wreck their futures by forecasting stardom.
