Parking sensors and front bumper removal on D2

Hi Guys,

I've got the parking sensor failure that seems to be quite common, I got the local garage to read the fault out which was

Address 76: Park Assist Labels: 4D0-919-283.lbl

Part No: 4D0 919 283

Component: Parkingsystem A8 RDW D07

Coding: 01108

Shop #: WSC 00000

1 Fault Found:

01629 - Sensor for Parking-Aid; Front Left (G255)

30-10 - Open or Short to Plus - Intermittent

And I am going to attempt to have a look at it, A8parts have got some so thats not an issue, but the indi garage recommended I check the wiring and connectors first.

So 2 questions, is it easy to remove the front bumper and is the guide on audipages (front end removal) still accurate for an '02 car?

And is that left sensor from drivers position or left sensor from the front?

Thanks!

Wayne

Hey thanks for that, I started taking it apart following your post, but need a 10mm hex tool got one today, so will attempt again this weekend,

I would imagine its left from the drivers position

I thought so to, but left (n/s) looks good condition, right one (o/s - Drivers side) looks corroded hence why I was a bit confused. I thought all of the VAGCOM messages might be standard regarding perspective, hope so anyway. I've got a sensor coming from a8parts so I'll soon find out.

Audi always go from the drivers seats looking forward to avoid confusion. It will be the sensor on the very far left, otherwise it would say left center.

It is reporting an intermittent open or short, so it sounds more like wiring inside the sensor, than a false reading from a badly corroded one. It sounds quite viable that the 'nice looking' one is faulty given your errors....
