grahamb
Is the bodywork actually wider on the RS6? Or is it just an optical illusion from the phat wheels that are squeezed underneath? Does the RS6 have different front and rear wheel arches? I keep seeing RS6's and drooling like a mad'un. There must be a reason why TIA Graham
sidicks
Yes, extended wheel arches and HUGE wheels, plus more aggressive front bumper, rear bumper and side skirts !!
Dave
Also lowered, huge brakes which can be seen underneath the 5 spoke alloys (painted black wirh RS logo).. spoiler on boot lid/ estate lid, dual xenon headlights, agressive grill pattern (like a hatch).. etc etc Dave
johneroberts
Actually they all come off the same production line and RS6s go to Quattro line, to have the front and rear bumpers done and any special equipment fitted. So the Arches are the same im affraid Cheers jr
Dave
Arches are S6 arches so they are wider than standard A6.. I'm fairly confident of that Dave
grahamb
Wont the brochure/handbook show the car's width (arch lip to arch lip, not wingmirror-wingmirror). I'll check my A6 handbook and post the width.
grahamb
My A6 owners manual says that the width is 1810mm and the width including mirrors is 1983, so 1810mm must be wheel arch to wheel arch. Wots the dims of the RS6 then? BTW, what are the 5 spoke wheels that are fitted to the RS6? Are they 18" or 19"? And wots the width? I may be buying a set... sidicks
Definitely 19" as standard. Not sure of the tyre size. Sidicks
Dave
Mine were 19".. 255/35 At least.. that's what I think they were.. funny how you forget
sidicks
[ QUOTE ] Mine were 19".. 255/35 [/ QUOTE ] That would have been my guess, but I wasn't sure.
biturbo
18" 9 spoke standard, 19" 5 spoke upgrade IIRC
Dave
I think that was correct at the start for the continent but then Audi UK made the 5 spoke standard and the 18" 9 spoke were a no cost option Dave
biturbo
Did I say that the upgrade would cost anything?
peterb
[ QUOTE ] So the Arches are the same im affraid [/ QUOTE ] The arches on the RS6 are the same as all other V8 A6 models. These are wider than the arches on the smaller-engined versions. Indeed, the front wings and bonnet of the V8 cars are also longer than the others (and made from aluminium instead of steel). Dave
Yes, that is correct.. they had to enlarge the engine bay to fit in the 4.2V8.. origionally it wasn't designed to take an engine that large.. so they had to enlarge the front end. Edd_W
bonnet, as well as wider arches front and rear.
Ian_C
[ QUOTE ] I keep seeing RS6's and drooling like a mad'un. There must be a reason why [/ QUOTE ] The fact it makes more torque than a Vanquish for starters maybe? Ian C
