SMURF Posted January 30, 2009 Report Share Posted January 30, 2009 Hi all, I'm a newbie to the site and was wondering if any one could help with a question I have? I've just bought a 2001 Audi A6 Avant 2.7t Quattro (230bhp). I've heard that these respond quite well to a remap and was wondering if any one had any experience of this and could recommend a place to have it done. I was looking at the Revo one. So far I've found the Vagtech and AMD websites?? My only concern is that the car is a few years old and has done 90K miles. It's been well looked after though with full Audi Service Hist etc. Also wondering how it will effect mpg. The wife will be using it a lot of the time and will certainly not require the extra power will the mpg stay the same for her? I appreciate that if you're giving it the beans it could drop some what? EddyH Posted January 30, 2009 Report Share Posted January 30, 2009 I've had a few high mileage VAG cars remapped without problems. If you tell us where you are it will be easier to make a recommendation. MPG is likely to improve for your wife with a remap. It's only when you use the extra power that the MPG drops, driving normally you generally see an increase as the engine will run more efficiently. Best to ask them about it first before you have it done. If you insure and then chip/remap it, some insurance companies might refuse to continue to cover you. e-maps Posted January 30, 2009 Report Share Posted January 30, 2009 These engines do respond well to mapping are pretty bullet proof. You didnt mention if you have an automatic gearbox, if you do you must have the autobox software adjusted to suit the engine. If you don't the autobox will start playing up. Just make sure the mapper knows to remap the engine software and gearbox software if you have an automatic gearbox. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

mudmover Posted February 5, 2009 Report Share Posted February 5, 2009 I've used revo technik to remap my 1.9TDi Revo Technik | ECU Tuning & Engine Management Software They seem to have dealers in Milton Keynes and Leighton Buzzard. I used 'Powermap' in Bristol. Turned out to be a guy running a francise from his home. It was all completed including a test drive within an hour. Very satisfied. Concur with what others have said regarding mpg and performance. Whether or not it is relevant, my intercooler did blow it's seals after a while but the engine had done 120k. The autobox can handle the torque fine as long as the gearbox software is adjusted as well. If it isnt the gearbox will soon fail. lottiefox Posted February 5, 2009 Report Share Posted February 5, 2009 We've had a 2.5TDi A6 allroad remapped by APS: APS Homepage in Brackley, Northants. They've also remapped my 2.0T TT and my previous TTqS. Superb guys. The allroad is an auto box and it copes with it fine, but you MUST get a map done by someone who knows the car and what it can handle. Mileage isn't a problem, but there may be different ways of remapping depending on the engine. Give Ed a call there and chat it through. I wouldn't trust my cars to anyone else. I've only had my A6 (C6) 3.0TDI Auto Quattro for just over a month now but have already had the engine re-mapped by Angel Tuning, so theoretically I'm getting about 280bhp & 420lb/ft. Whatever the figures are I'm very happy (BIG understatement!) with the increase in performance. However, after reading some of the above comments I'm now worried about my gearbox as, as far as I know, Angel did not modify the gearbox software in anyway. Is it really that important? oDUTCHYo Posted March 8, 2009 Report Share Posted March 8, 2009 I pick my A6 Avant 2.7 TDi Quattro (2007) next week and one of my first things to do was AMI install (Business to TCLsatnav of course!) and a remap. I will be quite protective of my new motor and wont let any old numpty who has the software to remap, let loose on it. I didnt realise about the gearbox software so thanks for bringing that one forward!
