Medway
Hi, The sunroof on my MK5 is refusing to close. It gets very close to the shutting position and then it fires back into the fully open position. I've checked the runners and they're clean and very well greased. Any ideas? Cheers,
Dave
I would guess that there is an obstruction somewhere.. try to close it and watch where it stops and investigate that area. Other wise there should be a manual override.. close it using that (you'll need a screwdriver) and then try again.
Medway
There's definitely no obstruction, I've checked and checked again. I can't hear any crunching or grinding either, it's like it's forgotten how to close itself! Do you have any idea how I get to the manual override as there's nothing in the manual? Thanks a lot,
Dave
I drive an Audi, but at the top (on the ceiling) there is a catch to remove the plastic cover which also holds the button. When that's removed you should see the mechanism and there will be a slot of your screwdriver.. turn left or right to open/close
Medway
Thanks for that Dave, I've managed to shut it. For the record, I had to unclip the middle part of the panel in the headlining and underneath was a silver allen bolt. All I had to do was put my allen key in, twist it with a bit of grunt in the right direction to move the sunroof back into position.
