steelwind101
Hi Guys Well there is about an inch if not more of snow out there here in N. London. I, of course, was still out doing the sunday car clean this afternoon! Brrrr! I got one done and quickly foamed up the Auris, I came back after getting fresh water and soap for the 2 bucket method (i have been in the USA since just before the near yr and the cars had been used while i was away). On coming back i hosed off the snow foam and i thought hmm, thats ice im washing off too. Dident really click with me to much, it was only when i started washing and got to the back window to see the wash water from rinsing the snow foam had frozen in a thin layer on top of the (sheeting) Wolfgang Sealant! Promptly returning to the front of the car i saw it had all begun to freeze . I kept on washing but im sure i maybe have marred the surface up a bit. Who knows the effects on the Wolfgang sealant (a durable, looks orientated sealant). No problems washing the Lancer, dried and QD's with out any problems it just got so cold so quick. After tipping my wash water away i was tidying up and all my foam had frozen in piles on the floor. Hopefully not much damage done, it is a Toyota and the water only warm. Anyone else venture out in the cold this weekend? Geoff

Anyone else venture out in the cold this weekend? Geoff Yep, I did on Sunday. The GTI got a thorough wash with a good coat of Megs QD before towelling off. Mind you, yestreday here in Edinburgh was lovely, still and dry, but this morning there's an inch of bloody snow and the the roads are slushy. Still, at least my efforts didn't go to waste and my paintwork is clean and protected under that snow and mush!
steelwind101
Nice one John, im sure the Collinite will hold well in to June no matter how much snow you get! There is 5-6 inches down now here in London, all the schools are closed, and most of all no one can see my car was frozen from the car wash yesterday! JonC
That's some snow, Geoff, and there's more to come! Still, think of the cleaning we can all do once it's thawed...

wyliss
More snow is expected Friday and then hopefully better weather. My LSP is failing slowly so I am looking forward to a restart in March/April. Possibly considering a Megs G220 for the applying of glazes and sealants....................... steelwind101
I experienced freezing issues whilst washing in the previous cold spell (early Jan). Very frustrating! Im glad im not the only one! I mean to ask you about how the Z8 was going. Dibbs, its a been a proper winter this year! Some top up products that might be of use to some forum membders they give good looks and some extra beading power. All you do is spray them on as there polymer based and will work fine over nuba waxes. -Optimum Spray Wax (great for ligher cars, silvers, metalics etc. Its bright and reflective) -Soveran Spray Wax (great for darker cars, soilds. Its deep and wet) -Z8 Reflective finish good on all colours. -AG Aqua Wax. Geoff

steelwind101
Hi Jon, With the exception of AG Aqua Wax all of the products are suppose to be applied to a dry car so that would post QD when your drying. If you dont use QD on a wet car and just dry then you can use any of the other products after you have dried the car. I forgot to add, there is another brand of Aqua Wax from Duragloss. This is more or less an indistinguisable product when applied from Zaino Z8. The Duragloss product would go on INPLACE of your QD when drying, IE you spray the Aqua Wax on to the surface of the car when its wet and dry as normal, maybe buffing the paintwork with another MF cloth to give it some extra bling. JonC
Sorry, just to be clear Geoff, I can apply QD, then dry off, then spray AG Aqua Wax thereafter and buff off?
steelwind101
Hi Jon, There are 2 brands of Aqua Wax in the UK, if you the AUTOGLYM Aqua Wax then you should: -Wash car -Rinse -Spray AUTOGLYM Aqua Wax on to car, then smear it around with the MF and move on to the nex panel. -Go around the whole car and buff AG Aqua Wax residue off the car to glossy shine. If you get the DURAGLOSS Aqua Wax, then you should: -Wash car -Rinse -Spray each panel with Duragloss Aqua Wax as your dry it. No QD's required as the Aqua Waxes act as rinse aids and add shine and protection. Geoff
wyliss
Considering a spray wax Geoff. Do you think the Optimum is best for my colour or the Souveran?

steelwind101
Everyone should have some very good before and after pics given how dirty all the cars are! The OCW should keep the dirty away, its totally polymer based and sheets and beads well.
