R32North
So, I met up with JHT this evening, as he was up the Edinburgh way for Xmas and New Year and so I took up his offer of a run in his R32 with the AMD Stage 2 upgrade (Miltek and Chip). Ok, so what did I think. Well, to start its exactly what I'd be looking for. Not out-n-out fast, but all round a quicker, smoother car..... JHT offered me the controls but I declined I was happy to sit back and feel the difference. So, what is the difference..... we were out for about 15 mins, a short time, but enough to tell that from about 3700rpms the AMD upgrade starts to show it advantages. Having gone from a A3 1.8T to an R32, it was going to be hard for me to tell the difference in 1st / 2nd gear acceleration below 4000rpm as the R is still fecking fast compared to the A3 but from 3700/4000rpm in 3rd and 4th gear theres is a real noticeable difference is the pull of the car and the smoothness of delivery.... its feels fresher and more relaxed where-as my R feels a bit tight of breath. There's more urgency in the acceleration and it feels as if the torque and power are working better... together with one another. Its not a 'magic' performance upgrade that going to turn your R into a flying machine able to whip Scoobies and Evos, but thats not the R in the 1st place..... it felt just right, like the R should've been from the factory floor. Plus the Miltek fits those cut-outs in the rear bumper just right...... looks the nuts, sounds excellent, nasty ol' boom is gone and a much sweeter sound, but with plenty of bark if provoked - for all you doubters, doubt NO MORE!! Now I just need to go and sort out insurance and make my appointment! BIG thanks to JHT for taking me a run and letting me see what the car is like over standard... especially this time of year when the weather is crap and plod is on patrol. I'll check about the cab for you, dont know myself but I will ask. Cheers Ross

Woppum
Techie welcome to TSN, I take it you have heard the R32 with the straight through Miltek... Whats it like in comparison?? P.S Nice skoda, i saw it last time i was at AMD, from what they were telling me, you can take virtually everyone on the road
Techie
With regards to the straight through Miltek when we fitted our first one a month or so ago there were a few R32 owners about, both of which ordered the new centre pipe there and then. And I certainly would go for one myself. They sound lovely at idle and they dont make the exhaust boomy at speed. With regards to One Click im not sure as/when it will be available, email Craig for info. And yes the Fabia does suprise a few people.

Trust me I'd love too have that Conv done to my car, but Insurance being what it is an' all I have to get that side of thing sorted out first. As soon as I get a new contract (so I can earn some money) I'll be onto my Ins company for some quotes for the different Stange convs and then I'll find out what the future holds for my motor... less bothered about VW warranty tho'. Oh, your wee VRS sounds like fun!!!

Ross - in your opinion, would you feel a big difference from the stage 2 to the stage 3....? Or is it another gradual, but noticeable improvement on speed.torque etc etc ? Techie
As with any mods on a n/a engine it is gradual, but well worth doing. You could allways try our demo one first. Well a staff member would take you out but you get the feeling. Plenty of people have gone for the stage 3 and have been very happy. cerbera
Cheers Ross. I thought the Demo car only had the Stage 2 with the straight through exhaust on it.....? If it's the stage 3 then I'll definitely pop up again soon! Sorry, one last question - does the straight through exhaust add any further BHP over the normal Milltek ? Thorney
Just back from a Golf RR day at AmD, I got to have a go in a stage 2 (AmD's) and a stage 3 (Micks) and there is very much a difference between the 2. Stage three gives much sharper throttle response and holds revs for longer with more power. Feels less 'stressed' for some reason. Combine that with front silencer bypass and I reckon you're onto a winner
