I don't want a 4x4, but I do quite like the RX. Certainly prefer it to the X5 and Q7, bit of a more difficult choice over the new model ML.

I wouldent take an X5 over this, purely b/c of the fuel problems. I think the RX is showing 31MPG in this, my old X5 3.0d (A) returned about 21-23MPG and thats more expensive diesel fuel too.

Having used to work Lexus some of the questions can possibly be cleared up.

Why all the buttons? Lexus drivers are older and prehapes and more conventional in there likings. There not intreasted in a Idrive or similar. They want a button for AC a button for this a button for that. Its works and its simple, internationally the button system works where idrive type systems are not so common, say the USA. People have less expectations of that so the buttons are fine.

Tape player, again Lexus owners expect good service and high levels of details. You or I maybe intreasted in where can we hook up our ipod but my dad still has cassettes and would find it "nice" he can still use them. It doesnt hurt me or offend me that it can play the cassettes. Cant help notice rear screen models dont come with BetaMax though, lol.

Now what i would prefer to all of those would be the Infiniti SUV "FX", see here Infiniti FX now that does have looks that can kill. They drive well, sound good and well built!

I'm afraid the car has never done anything for me - I would have a Q7 or X5 over that pile of brown stuff any day..

I think the dash is tacky, the LED's is so 70's I mean look at the clock!

Its terrible compared to the IS/GS and a car that handles like a boat is as appealing to me as having a new arsehole created on my beehind!

I would stick with German tech, for a SUV until they can get something out that looks better.

Geoff - 3.0d X5 was it really that low? I had a Petrol 3.0 X5 Sport (55 plate) and I only managed 22mpg in that and 26 on a run!

For the record :

1> The 31 mpg displayed in the pic genuinely was the absolute best average, based on resetting the cruise control at 70 mph, and maintaining that speed +/- 5 mph for half an hour on the motorway. When I collected the rx400h, the trip computer was actually showing 19 mpg. At Donington it showed 8 mpg.

2> 'Way off the mark, div' is an anagram of 'Subaru driving Oldham fan'.

3> None of the pictures, nor the unusual buttons, are faked.

4> I had Shepherds Pie for dinner. With real Shepherd in it.

There may be minor unintentional inaccuracies in this post.

I don't even want to contemplate that thought

Even if you don't want to contemplate that thought you know fullwell that at some time in the last month you've combined the words w@nk and lexusmaindealer in the same sentence, possibly with an added 'er' +++

The duisbergkid pointed me @ this thread, I have already tested this car over two days and 200+ miles and "TOTALLY AGREE" with every word.

A real pile of crap and for wait for it ................................£55K+ :roflmao:

I just fail to see WHY all this hype over money spent on HYBRID TECH turns out to be "pure rubbish".

When will the green freeks wake up and see they are being CONNED.

(fyi) There is an alternative to going to the dealer for a replacement rear blade on the Lexus RX 400H. It may first appear that the blade and arm are one piece but if you take a look, you'll see the wiper blade can be replaced and its actually quite simple. It is a special rear wiper blade though. There may be other alternatives, but the 'Trico Exact Fit Rear Blade' snaps right onto the special rear arm and looks like the factory original. You can find it online. Much cheaper than the dealer alternative and easier/less tedious than messing around with rubber blade refills. Comes with removal and replacement instructions too. Hope this helps.
