Has any other New avant owners experienced problems with their FM Radio reception?

Mine is shoddy as you like, cant get any of the stations i would normally get apart from the big ones like Radio 1 and Radio 2 etc..

I have DVD NAV.

When I test drove the B8 saloon (without DVD NAV) the reception was mint.

Thanks

I had this on the A4 avant too, and on the A6 now, I have tuned the stations in right next to the transmitter and can select them from Memory, but when the list comes up for found stations away from the transmitter most are missing, R1 is there and R3 as well as some other tosh like Classic Old Peoples Chit Chat FM or some such crap.

Why is it??

XFM, Absolute... they are the same stations I'm missing. Even essex fm. Living in the Stansted area, so not outside the range.

Have you mentioned it to Audi UK? I was given the run around for some time.

Basically I was told that "The radio works to specification" although i don't quite understand that as its not the 1950's

Recently the dealer has started to listen to my complaint, are now at least trying to come up with a resolution.

Im not willing to give up the name of the Dealer just yet, so as not to jeopardize any relationship that we have struggled to build over the past 6 months.

I would recommend checking it out on day one when you are actually driving, (I.e not stationary) and highlighting it with your dealer Straight away.

Initially I was told it was a faulty part, which they replaced. But had I of known then what I know now I would of rejected the car, no doubt.

It *seems* to be limited to the Avant with DVD Nav (MMI High)

Without trying to scare off any wouldbe avant owners, I have been out in 2 other B8 Avant's with DVD Nav and the performance is comparable. It has also been tested against a brand spanking new delivered Avant and its the same.

If you can live with a crackly radio then great, as the rest of the car is impeccable and I cant fault anything else about it.

I haven't taken it up with the dealer as it was bought from a dealer in the Midlands and I am on the south coast. Now I have the Pure Highway for DAB I don't use the FM channels (because they were unusable for my music tastes).

I did drop Craigb a note and he replied that the aerial is already amplified. So I wonder if it is the amplifier playing up rather than the actual reception from the aerial?

I've had all three aerials the amp and rear glass changed, there has been no improvement. :ffs::ffs:

I should have some official response from Audi UK very soon. Kudos to the dealership who initially were not interested but after the threat of legal action have picked up this case and run with it.

I think the customer services woman is just trained in saying "no" but once I got past her I'm pleased with how its now being handled.

Well done for persevering. It does work as llong it doesn't get personal or end in a slanging match.

I managed to get my clutch replaced in my A3 SB after 50K miles because I had moaned about since the first service. I ended up on my mobile to Audi UK in the local dealership. It got a little vocal at one point but not nasty. Ultimately Audi UK replaced the clutch under warranty and I think the dealership really helped.

The last service of the A3 before I traded up to the A4 I complained about whining from the engine. The dealership replaced the turbo under warranty and I didn't even know until I went to pick it up. They said they had handled it ll on my behalf with Audi UK. The service manager always looks a bit nervous when I come in but I always have a quick chat.
