Is this your old S4?

Auto Trader UK - AUDI S4 Quattro

Just seen a link to it on another forum, and thought i recognised the plate

Yep it is......and I wouldn't buy it. I bought a B8 when I did for a reason. I wouldn't have normally bought at that time knowing that the MY10 model was coming but I did so that should tell you something.

Have you ordered the new one yet then. :coffee:+++

Nope - they're being really crap. I've written up my diary of events and I've made a note to escalate tomorrow....but I keep wondering whether I should hang on to their car and delay mine for as long as I can

Hi,

Here is my thoughts having read this over the last couple of weeks. I would order your new car as soon as you have the chance.

As time goes by they will only become more complacent, after all you have another car. No one at the dealership wants to remeber what has happened. They will want to get over it and move on.

The further you get away from the initial disaster, there is less pressure on the people under the thumb when it happened and it being all the talk at the meetings the less dedication and presence your case will have.

Evenutally you will be "that guy who got the wrong car, who has one of ours". Rather then "the poor guy who has been messed around with the wrong car and he needs a new one as he is unhappy driving our loaner".

Just my thoughts, if it were me i would crack this on the head, get my new car and get out of there as soon as i can! I know you want then '10 model and if you can scoop that then great. I suspect other, bigger things will be on the dealer table before long and you will fighting from the sidelines.

I wouldn't delay it too long though just in case....

I decided to escalte today but then I forgot to forward my list of issues to work..... then I got a call from the saleguy but I was on a conference call. He said he had to go out at 2 and if I hadn't spoken to him by then he'd call me when he got back about 18:00. I called and had to leave a message. He hasn't called back.

Yep and by the time he gets around to calling me and then I wno't be able to get up to see them for a while and then I need to test drive the dynamic suspension and then get around to speccing it and then discuss the price and the then discuss compensation and then place the order and the wait for delivery and then pick the car up and give them theirs back....I'll have saved even more. +++

I can recommend it, just picked up my wifes car and I am well impressed with it, the overall ride on the 19" wheels is surprisingly good. Interestingly enough I had the opposite experience to scoTTY with Audi. They got the spec slightly wrong but in my favor, I hadn't ordered the auto dipping mirrors, but it came with these fitted.

OK so time for an update about my little saga :

It was a simple case of mistyping the order during transfer into the order system. It seems due to the old DOS based system and the long model name, only the q of quattro would show and this was missed during checking. Mistakes happen I guess and I prefer to judge companies on how they resolve these issues.

It'a taken a while since there's been some confusion and some delays (some of the delay was caused by me saying I'd like to get 3G MMI on the replacement car) but I'm glad to report that things are now all underway.

The plan is that I'll keep this current FWD car until September and then collect the new quattro car on a 59 plate.

I'm happy with this at it means I get all the MY2010 benefits including 3G MMI. They keep me mobile and cover the price increase that happened after I placed my order in January and I'll cover the £470 (minus my discount of course ;)) for the MY2010 spec changes. All seems reasonable and fair to me.

Good on Stansted Audi for getting this resolved in a satisfactory way :smileylove:

Here's my full spec :

Audi 2.0T quattro Executive S-line Avant (211ps)

Aruba Blue Pearl

19" 7-arm double spoke wheels

Dynamic Damper control

Tech Pack (with 3G MMI)

Bang & Olufsen sound system

Full Leather (black)

Adaptive lights

Power tail gate

Folding/dimming Mirrors

Tyre Pressure Monitoring System

Parking plus (F & R)

Heated front seats

Storage Pack

Lighting pack

Privacy glass

Rear side blinds

Load area rails

Rear Side Airbags

Reversable load liner and bumper protector

p.s. "Dialogue" - the crappy VW ordering system is being replaced this year. It will mean two weeks of no system at all ! SEAT will be the first to get it. Let's hope it makes ordering easier!

Aruba Blue Pearl

Saw an Avant in Aruba Blue the other day. Really nice, strong colour and a refreshing change from all the monochrome Audis out there. +++

Is your, er, interim A4 Aruba? Might have been you! (Don't ask me where, it could have been anywhere on a complicated line between Manchester, Bristol and Norwich... :uhoh: )

THe current one is Meteor Grey. It's looks lovely in the sun with hints of green and purple etc but on UK grey days it's too drab for us.

We also went back to Brilliant Red but we've had that for the last 5 years.

I've never had a blue car so decided it was time despite it not being the most popular colour.

As you sat there's lots of monochrome choices and very few colours to choose from. :(

Merlot - the standard S-line feels like a Jaguar compared with the suspension of the B6 S4 !! ;)
