Mrdeli
I love my 57 reg A4 2.0tdi cab - however I am constantly plauged by nosies from the rear windows with the hood up. With the hood down the rattles become even louder over broken surfaces. Is this common to all cabs? If not is there any know fix - or is it a dealer visit? Many thanks, Mark
PeterS
Defintely not an issue on my '57 A4 Cab (though mine's petrol), and I haven't seen any other posts on this  What does the dealer say? Hope you get it sorted Peter
UBM
You could try the following : 1. Ensure all the four windows are synchronised using the key fob - hold down the unlock button until all windows are down and then hold down the lock button until all windows are up. 2. Lightly grease the top of each window panel to stop squeaks.
Cupramax
My windows tend to rattle a little with the hood down (mainly the passenger side) but never with it up...
Chick
I occasionally get the odd rattle - I find parking on a flat even surface and putting roof down and back up can help, or sometimes just doing the windows back down and up. Good luck;)
Mrdeli
Thanks for all your help - the cure is still eluding me!! I'm thinking that 'rattleing' is not the best description - it is more like trim creaking. I note that if i drop the rear windows even 1cm it stops. It is common to both sides. Can anyone offer sggestions. Thanks Mark

I have never found a permanent cure. The noise comes from the window channels that are in the roof - I suspect that gritty road film gets in there. To cure it, for a while at least: 1) Drop the hood and make sure the windows are fully up 2) Clean the top of the windows - you will see the dirty 20mm or so that resides in the channel when the hood is up 3) Raise the hood and lower all the windows right the way down 4) Using a damp cloth, carefully clean the channels - they will be very mucky 5) Get a tin of WD40 with the red spray probe attached and spray carefully and sparingly into each channel - have a some kitchen towel handy to catch any drips 6) Lastly make sure that the area of the A Pillar where each front drop glass makes contact is clean I would love to find a source of silicon grease in spray form which would be better for any rubber components - but WD40 does work. Mrdeli
Thats great - I will try that tomorrow- i am sure that you are experiencing exactly the same problem. I'm going to try to track down some silicon grease as a wd40 subsitute - i'll let you know how i get on. Thanks Mark
Mrdeli
I am pleased - no overjoyed to report a 100% fix for my problems - The answer was £3.99 and a trip to halfords for there own brand silicon spray grease. I did the following: 1. cleaned the window roof channels out with a damp cloth (they were pretty clean actually. 2. sprayed the silicon grease into the roof window channels and spread round with the tip of my finger (roof half converted made this easier) Thats it - all my creaking has gone - very happy Thanks all.
