  • 3 weeks later...

hi,

I was looking for someone on this site who might know a thing or 2 about my engine problem. so i thought i would ask your good self :)

i have a mk 3 tdi golf, and yesteday i put a new radio in it, and it blew its fuse, so i changed the fuse then the blinkng car wouldnt start.

so i checked all the fuses and none of them had blown..... so i then checked to see if i was getting the coil light coming on when i turn the key ( 109 relay) and yep the coil light comes on for a sec then goes off. ok .,.then i turn the key to start the car... it will start if i hold the key hard over to engage the starter motor, engine fires up, but with as soon as i let the key go it cuts the engine off. :ffs: so i then thought ok i screwed up the immobiliser??? so i found it under the dashboard and un hooked the cables connected into it, to see if it would make the engine start or not.. well engine turns over but wont fire up,,, so ok put the wires back on the immobiliser. then tried to start it again, same as the first time, engine will fire up if i hold the key hard over, so im lost.

Not sure what happend when i plugged in a new radio, as the car worked great before that.

are there any hidden fuses under the bonnett?

ive checked ever fuse in the fuse box area and all the relays but still cant get it to start.

please can you help with your fountain of knowledge to see if you have any tricks i can try??:D

many thanks

j
