I hate that tyre dressing stuff. Can't stand the look of shiney tyres.

What are you doing here, Cruiser? :P:grin: Nice to see you in the OCD forum for a change :P

What size tub do you get for your £15/30? It's not exactly cheap for a tryre dressing! I prefer the more wetter look myself.

TT, no more detailing products this month? Yeah, right :P Is that what you told Mrs TT?

I think everyone likes different types of dressing, there are lots of different ones to suit!

This looks intreasting, when you have a new tyre fitted they swipe it with some sort of dull, matt coating this looks very similar!

Im dubious of this product, it doesnt say what is in it. Lots of products can damage tyres, more so, when tyre wall becomes worn smearing tyre gels, esp. the heady petrol smell ones can cause more damage.

I have noticed this guy mention a few of his products on DW. It does look cool though, anyone going to try it?!

Yes, yes, I know - this isn't really a place for me, despite my other OCD tendencies (although I've got a load of Megs stuff in the garage that comes out every 3 months or so), but that "natural finish" looks like a dressed tyre should imo +++

Geoff, I didn't know some could cause damage. Are you able to name & shame any to stay away from?

Hi TT

I would look out for any product that contains petroleum distillates. TW used to do some, im not sure if any of the big companies still offer these, most use water based.

Personally i avoid anything with solvents in, they can turn the tyre brown. This process often damages the rubber. Further more, often these products contain silicons, if you a ceramic brake pack, getting these products on them can render them useless.

A study by the Germans also shows the damage the wrong tyre cleaner can cause on a tyre and how it can help make little holes huge problems. I will try to dig it out later when im back in the office!

  • 2 months later...

Well I finally got around to using this product today and what a product it is.

Application is much like shoe polish. Let it dry for 30 mins or so and then buff with a soft brush.

I tried to buff it after 20 mins but it didnt shine so I left it for longer.

After about an hour I followed the instructions and used a bit of water to achieve a slight shine and voila.

A very nice product to use, recommended !! +++

p.s. I also used Bromoco's 'Back for Good' trim restorer on the air intake grills on my car and it has restored the colour so well. Equally an excellent product.
